In my opinion, only one person deserves to be booed - Marbury. His demeanor, approach, lack of leadership, poisonous attitude are all reasons to let the guy know that he's in the wrong. While I can admire his off the court activities, his behavior in the basketball world is unacceptable. Not only is his play subpar, uninspiring, and disruptive but he loses all respect when he tries to defend himself in the media. Stop your bitching Steph! If he would just publiclly apologize to the fans once, and say that he's really trying to represent his city and that he'll do his best, it would go a long way towards mending what looks like a irreperable relationship.

Why boo the rest of the team? I understand if they're totally flat and lifeless, but the boos in the garden (from when I've been there) appear to have little rhyme or reason. I think the booing of Eddy Curry is a huge mistake and a terrible way to treat a 23 year old. It's not Eddy's fault that the Bulls got Thomas and the chance to swap picks. It's not his fault that Brown and Thomas anointed him the cornerstone of the franchise. Yeah he's a slow-learner and has very little fundamental knowledge. But he can be a servicable starting center - something that's hard to come by in the NBA. He's not going to be Ewing so stop expecting him to be. Booing him is like Steph scowling at a teammate after a missed basket. Fans should be like Steve Nash, encouraging, while expecting results. If we had somebody who could pass to the post and set up easy shots for him, he would be a much better player.

Who else on the team deserves to be booed? I understand the frustration, believe me. But as someone who plays ball, you get better results with positive reinforcement rather than negative attitude.

And arguing that you have a right to boo cause you pay for tickets is illogical in my opinion. If you really want to make your displeasure known, stop giving MSG your money. I'm not paying for any more tickets until I know that I'm going to get a team that's not scared to play at MSG. A team that comes out hard every night. The people that I see booing now at the home games are doing it just to be *******s and pretend like they know what's good for the team (again, let me make it clear that I'm not talking about the boos that come from lifeless and uncaring play).

come on man, let's move on from this topic of booing... this team gets booed when they don't play w/any heart or passion during games... they get plenty of cheers when they start busting their butts on the floor & showing the fans that they're not going down w/o a fight... every Knick team i've ever watched has had to deal w/the same thing... if you can't deal w/the NY fans, you have no business playing here, period... win games & NY is the best place to play in the world imo.

Is that why people booed Ewing? negativity begets negativity. He forced a trade and look where that ended up.

Your take on it is too simplistic. sorry, but sometimes the way NY fans are is classless. They don't just get booed when they don't play with passion and you know it. Curry gets booed when he misses a shot. When he makes a trunover. He gets booed for fukin up. That's crazy. it's taunting.

The booing is really uncalled for at times. If a kid is giving his all he should not be booed.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

i think alot of the boos are directed to isiah. only individual players that get booed are steph and curry.

LOL its that type of attitude by NY fans which has so many players not want to play here and probably a reason why so few NY teams outside of the Yankees win championships

This is ridiculous. The franchise is a joke and has been a joke for 7 years. If the players are to fragile to handle fans booing then they don't deserve to be playing for the millions that they are paid. Get over it.

Its undeniable that the boos are counter productive. You can almost see the team get deflated as the boos grow louder and louder. Perhaps if they saved the boos for truly awful play and not missed free throws and such it wouldnt be so bad. But whats the point? It makes the team worse.

right or wrong, i'd bet a testicle that if dolan sent isiah and marbury packing today the boos would cease tomorrow.

Well the fans can be part of the solution or part of the problem. When you boo 4 minutes in to the game you are part of the problem. When the home court turns in to a home court disadvantage you are part of the problem. If the fans need to throw temper tantrums then dont be surprised if we dont have another champeionship the next 33 years. Some NY fans are idiots. The ones that boo guys like Patrick and Arod are idiots.

It would help but NY fans booed Clyde Frazier. The culture, atnmosphere and media is 100% different than some other cities. I saw the Spurs win like 20 games a year and their fans treated them like kings.

that san antonio team was probably the 50 win team that lost david robinson to injury, not the excuse a week variety led by marbury and isiah.

anyway, i'm talked out on the subject after last night, but i will say, i was never/rarely a booer when i was a season ticket holder, but the rare times that team was booed they seemed to take motivation from it and respond positively to it. you never saw patrick benched, whining and blaming.

I was actually talking about the Spurs before Drob was even in the league. The Spurs have always had an amazingly supportive crowd. Their own media calls them the good guys. Its homerism to the 200th degree but its better than what I see in NY.
Patrick is not Marbury. arod is not Marbury. clyde was not Marbury. But NY fans booed them all.

I never once booed Patrick Ewing and I don't boo Alex Rodriguez, I am a huge Alex Rodriguez supporter. I don't boo guys who try their hardest on the court, even if it results in poor play and I think most other NY fans are like that. The fans boo when they know there is something rotten with their favorite team. The fact of the matter is that fans can voice their displeasure over their team if they choose too, especially with what has happened with this franchise the last 7 years. Most Knick fans know how bad this situation with the Knicks has gotten, they know about the mismanagement of the roster, they know about the bloated contracts given out and taken from other teams and they don't like it, why should they?

I would never EVER boo guys like Lee, Balkman, QRich, Nate, Crawford, Frye but the fact of the matter is that these guys are on a team with guys like Marbury, Francis, Curry, Jerome James who are epitome of the mismanagement that has gone on here since the days of Patrick Ewing. When the fans are booing, they are booing what this franchise has done to their beloved team and they have every single right in the world for James Dolan to hear how they feel about this. If the players can't handle the booing than they should be looking for a new line of work.

Whether you booed Patrick or arod doesnt mean they dont get booed. They did as well as many other great players.
The Knicks have a home court disadvantage.

I'm a diehard NY team fan but if I was a pro athlete the last place I would want to play is NY. You could be Tim Duncan mixed with Mother Theresa and the fans/media will still be critical of you here. The fans/media have some sort of perfection complex where they think they all are smarter and would give more effort.
Maybe the fans are part of the problem instead of being part of the solution. Maybe the fans should wonder why so many players used NY to get big contracts but still dont wnat to play in NY. Maybe the fans should wonder why NY hasnt won a championship in 33 years. They are not helping is the bottom line

My thing about this whole booing discussion is, even if we agree it's counterproductive, what should we do about it? Organize a UK contingent to go to games and hand out flyers? Walk around the Garden asking people nicely "please don't boo"?

NY would be the last place I would ever want to play. I dont know what can be done but the some not all of the fans are led by the media in to being total temper tantrum throwing idiots. Name a big time NY player who the NY media hasnt ever been critical of.
Jeter. No
Arod. No
Reggie. No
Mattingly. No
Winfield. No
Patrick. No
Houston. No
Messier. No
Esposito. No
Leetch. No
Tiki. No
Strahan. No
Simms. No

It doesnt matter who you are the NY Media will be critical of you and the fans are led by the nose by the lame media. Somehow teh media and the fans are convinced that somehow they are smarter than the coachs and they would try harder than the players. 50 pound overweight guys eating french fries will complain about effort...like they would try harder. Geeks in brooks brother suits that were called last in dodge ball are fantasy stat stars and some how think they know more than the coachs and would play better than the players.

NYers want change and want to be proactive to that effect. They're not gonna just blindly support something they don't believe in.

Funny how this town is so bad for sports and still managed title for all of it's sports franchises, and even have one of the most, if not THE MOST, storied and successful of franchises in the history of sports in the Yankees.

Sugarray: You are so on point with this discussion. Its something I've been saying for a long time. Its beyond just booiong the Knicks, its the NY fan in general. I remember the Mets fans booing Mike Piazza the first day he put on a Met-uni at Shea. Didn't even give the perennial allstar and future hall of famer a chance. NY fans in general are very obnoxious. The attitude is (we don't care that you may have put up hall of fame numbers in Seattle, etc, you have to earn the right to wear our uniform).

Then you have so many media outlets (talk show radio, over a dozen different news papers) and it makes it hard for the average fan to have their own thoughts. Alot of times the fans react based on what a columnist said, or a radio show host. This is more than just the booing of Marbury or Isiah. This has gone on in all sports for players who certainly didn't deserve it.
"Man, who knows with this team." Aguirre.
