i've watched him play about 10 games (not a great sample i know)... from what i've seen, i think Q is a better overall player & i love Q's attitude & toughness.

Battier's a solid role player... i think Q's every bit as tough as he is if not more, probably Battier edges him on basketball IQ, but i prefer Q's scoring ability... both play good D... anyway, like i said, this is not a "who's better" thread... everyone has a different opinion.

how do you know he has more potential? Q had better #'s when he was 19 & 20 respectively during his 1st 2 seasons in the NBA than Granger's put up in his 1st 2 seasons at 22 & 23 years of age... yes, Granger's longer & he'll probably progress into a better rebounder, that i don't dispute... as far as overall potential that's debateable.

Granger didn't get any run his first year and lets face it he is in the same position many knicks are this year.....

Harrington, Oneil, Jax are not looking to pass the ball. He is getting time this year I just think that he has a better stroke than Q and in the right team concept would be unbelievably effective....I think him as a rebounder in the long run.

Q's career stats are 12pts 5rbs (40%fg 353fg% 1.5ass/1.2to's) Which are very unimpressive numbers to date, he has played well this year and he is a good team guy, but other than that its a takem or leave em.....if i had a choice between him and nearly every other knick there is no question i would want him out there, and you can see when the ball is being shared and he is getting his touches we are a much better team....

And i just love Pietrus i think he is going to be a monster and someone i wish this team had at shooting guard, thats a player you trade an expiring and take on a longer contract for not losers like Crawford, Curry, Marbury, and Francis.....

Granger got over 22 mpg his rookie season, that's alotta burn for a rook... Q put up better #'s when he was 2 years younger & in only 18 mpg w/the Clips his rookie season.

again, i'm not saying it's a huge landslide that i take Q Rich over Granger, but the Q that i like is the guy who can put up 16 & 6 & play very good defense, the Q that we all saw at the beginning of the season... i have yet to see Granger play that way on a consistent basis over the course of a season... granted, he's not looked on to score much on the Pacers team this year w/Harrington & JO playing alongside him, so any fair comparison is sorta hard to make at this point... let's just say i think Q shows more leadership, grit & toughness than alot of the players on this list, & that's what puts him over the edge in my eyes in several cases.

I think the toughest one for me was Rashard Lewis. Though Lewis is a better offensive player, I still would take Qs toughness and defense over his shooting. Q's just a better fit for this team for the moment. We'd be 0 for without him.

This is a great thread. I'm looking forward to the PF one. We should have it separately for Lee and for Frye.

Q's gotta play this well for much longer for me to take him over guys who have been solid *season after season* throughout their careers like Rashard Lewis, Wally Z, Peja S. If Q can be the same player he was in the 1st ten games for the rest of his career, then I'd take him over those players, though. That's just too big an "if" with him right now IMO.

as for taking Q over Wally & Peja, i like the defense Q gives u that those guys don't... plus Peja is a notorious choker in big games & i really don't like his demeanor for the style of game i want this team to play... he's 1 of the best shooters in the game, but i want guys w/heart on this team... Wally was a tougher choice cuz i think he's got the type of demeanor i like... i just like how Q gives me more rebounding & defense.

wow, u have a pretty low opinion of Q i see... Kyle Korver? Quinton Ross? i'd just like to ask u your reasoning on those guys over Q... is it because of Q's health issues or do u think those guys are better guys to have on a team?

btw, my bad on putting Meggette instead of Ross as the starting SF... doesn't really matter to me since i take Q over both those guys.

Actually, I'll be flat out honest, I never even heard of Anthony Parker before now. But since Toronto is bad too, and they have some really solid players, I'm gonna assume that Parker is a bigger contribution to those losses. Ignorance, yes, but when the Knicks play Toronto, I'll letcha know.

Q is real decent. the rebounding is great and he is a decent playmaker but his shot is just too inconsistent. IMO a top 3 should have a mid-range game be able to regularly knock down that 15 footer. Ross and Korver can, Q can't. For all the attributes like the board work and tough nose style, in the end he is still a gunner on the wings and not glue.

I hear what you're saying and I'd agree with you if the Q we've seen over the last 3 weeks is "the real Q," but I'm very reluctant to put much weight in such a small sample size. If you'd been asked this question just 5 weeks ago, would you have picked Q over Rashard Lewis, Peja, and Wally?

i don't take Q over Rashard Lewis now, before or ever... Rashard is simply a much better player & i would go after his star quality over Q Rich's intangibles everytime.

but Peja & Wally are very 1 dimensional players imo... i take Q over those guys on my team... just my preference.

btw, the Q we've seen over the last 3 weeks is the real Q... the Q you saw last year was an anomaly... pretty understandable when you consider what the guy was going through at the time... i've never once ever heard a negative utterance about Q's attitude, work ethic or approach to the game the way you have about guys like Tim Thomas for example... back when he was w/the Clips he was 1 of the best young up & coming swingmen in the game imo... he became a different player on the Suns because that team looked to him to be a shooter, but this year he's returning back to what he was in LA early in his career... too bad his back is a lingering issue or else he'd easily be 1 of the best bargains in the NBA.

Sorry I got confused about Rashard. I didn't see Q much in LA. That may be part of the difference in our views. I'm really basing my views on what I saw of him in Phoenix and NY. If he was this good in Phoenix, then I'm more optimistic (and also surprised the Clippers didn't keep him).

the Clips had already invested a big chunk of longterm salary on Brand & Maggette & we all know they're not the most free spending franchise in the NBA.

before Q went to Phoenix he was a 17 & 6 player who got a good share of his points posting up smaller guards... joec & i used to always talk about wanting this guy on the Knicks a couple years back... i think this year he's showing what he can do.

i remember he & D. Miles used to tap their heads with both his fists everytime 1 of them made a good shot back when they were playing together... haven't seen him do that since he's been here though.
