Ok so we've lost some games and some of our more prominent players haven't looked good in those losses. Still this team isn't as far off pace as it might seem. In fact if we had played the way we SHOULD have, we'd right now be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. How?

Well right now we're 4GB of Cleveland which is 7-3. We haven't yet hit stride and haven't really gotten any consistent play from our SL. Still at 4-8 we're just 2 games off the pace of every team except Cleveland and Orlando both off to a good start. ALSO 8 of the teams we've faced have .500 or better records. With 2 more of those teams just a game off the .500 mark.

We've played the most games so far at 12 and that's 2 more than any other team in the East. Strangely tho, we haven't been able to win at home, IF we had, we'd be a good team cuz we're .500 on the road. It's these home losses that have been the real downfall of the team so far. The competition level at home has been fairly high. SA is playing .818 ball, Indy .500, Cleve .700 Wash. .444, Bos. .400 and Hous. .636. It's the Boston loss that hurt the most, cuz we shoud've beaten them. If we can find ourselves and get back on track at home we can make up a lot of ground in December, when we'll have a much easier schedule. Stealling another road win would help make up for the Home losses. Minny and Boston are games that we may have a shot to get a win.

I just like to throw this out there to help balance out the doom and gloom I sense is creeping in :)

No need for an all-caps title. If your point is that the season isn't yet over, I agree. 4-8 isn't even that bad until you take into account that we lost to Atlanta and Boston this season, almost gave up the game against TERRIBLE Memphis. We've had a few nice upset victories this season... to go with a lot of disappointing losses. We're not out of the playoffs, but I think any thought of getting to, say, .500 would be a stretch. Right now we're on pace for 27 wins. I think that trend will continue, until we solve the Franbury dilemma.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

get rid of Isiah and his creampuffs and this team WILL play like it should. Until Isiah has the balls to bench Curry for not playing hard and move Franbury this team has dead weight bringing it down.

to be fair I have posted very positive things about Frye, Lee and Jefferies, and this team has some pieces to to do well.

The problem is the coach GM as put all his chips on some lame horses and he's got to ride them now until he breaks.

It turns out that the Atlanta loss wasn't that bad considering they're .500. The Boston loss is the one that really stands out. Also you can't go back to the 1st game of the year when this team was obviously nowhere near as comfortable and they actually won the game.

While you're getting on them for losing those games you have to also add in that we've faced SA and Houston twice already, as well as Cleve. and they're playing .800, .636 and .700 ball. It's not like we've been facing a bunch of scrub teams.

As far as the players that isiah has put faith in, I think it's still premature to take a stance that he's somehow made a mistake in getting behind these players. We all knew Nov. would be a tough month, but aside from a bad loss or two, they've been very competitive while not yet really hitting stride. We've yet to really get our SL right. If we can somehow steal wins on the road I think this opening month will have been a success compared to what many media predicted might happen.

nixluva... I'm not talking about winning. I'm talking about Eddie Curry in year 6 is still too fat to defend and rebound because he's simply out of gas. Doesnt that bother you?

Please. The Knicks aren't good. The starting lineup is atrocious and there is no help for this team. Curry is no longer a young player, he's been in this league long enough to stop doing the FUNDAMENTAL things he does wrong. Marbury and Francis can not play on a top tier level anymore. It's pathetic.

Enjoy watching Isiah Thomas on the sidelines, because he's not going to be there much longer.

I wanna know what nixluva thinks, because I know he's pretty die hard and a defender of Isiah and his players.

What do you think when you watch Eddie play in the shape he's in? After 6 years in this league?

nyk4ever, you really are missing the point. No one said they are a good team right now. It's just a realistic look at the season based on the fact that this was a tough schedule for a team that is trying to mesh a lot of new things all at once. We haven't seen the best this team can play yet and still they've been in just about every game, so that's a good sign for the future.

fishmike, I share you disappointment in Curry. I'm not happy that he's been so ineffective. so far this season. I wouldn't say that he's not in shape cardiovascularly, he seems to have the stamina, it's more a matter of him being unable to get his energy level up enough. He tends to play without a sense of desire. When you see guys like Lee, Balkman or Nate, it really makes Curry's output level stand out. Heck now Frye seems to have gotten back on track and is picking up his play. I think that is one reason to keep showing patience.

I disagree with nyk4ever's stance that Curry is no longer young. 23 is still 23. The guy has a long way to go in his career. This is no guarantee that he'll every get it, but he's not done just because he started earlier than he should've. We don't have to give up after 12 games just because things haven't looked great. Man there's SEVENTY more games to go!!!! We haven't even reached the end of the 1st month yet. There's 5 more months after this one, so let's keep it in perspective. RIGHT NOW, Curry stinks as do Steph and Francis, but these guys aren't going ANYWHERE anytime soon, not playing like this anyway. So we need to keep working to get them on track. When they are, this is gonna be a good team, cuz we're not that far off IMO. We've been pretty much playing without 3-4 of our Starters playing well all season.

More importantly we're only 2 games behind the Nets. Let's be real. Only one team from the Atlantic is making the playoffs. And since the Nets are just 5-5 and hardly looking like world beaters, we'll be within shouting distance for a while. We're as good as Boston & Philly at least. So until the Nets turn it on, we're still in it. And we're almost through the toughest month of the schedule. So there's some reality AND optimism for ya.

I'm merely looking at what's REALLY going on and as far as I can see we're right in the thick of this and we haven't even hit our full stride yet. I expect that at some point we're gonna get it right and this team is gonna be a playoff team.

We're not getting blownout on a nightly basis so far. A few more well executed plays in any of these games could've resulted in a win. So I think that too many of us are being overly sour on this team.

Cleveland -------- 8-3
Orlando --------- 7-4
New Jersey ------- 5-5
Indiana ---------- 6-5
Detroit ---------- 6-5
Atlanta ---------- 4-4
Miami ----------- 4-6
Boston ---------- 4-6
Philadelphia ----- 4-6
Washington ------ 4-6
New York -------- 4-8
Chicago --------- 3-8
Milwaukee ------- 3-9
Toronto --------- 2-8
Charlotte -------- 2-8

the way things are going this year, 37 wins may get you into the playoffs in the east. and that's a pretty sad statement.

we're also not the only team in the east who hasn't hit full stride yet.

The problem is that Curry seems to be regressing, and Marbury and Francis don't fit the offensive tempo or consistently bring defensive intensity.

You saw during the pre season that Curry was alarmingly the same player he always was. Then he had the big game against a crappy Memphis frontcourt and he's sucked for the rest of the season. People are creatures of habits, and the more Eddie stays the path he's taking, the harder it's going to be for him to get off. Want an example? Just look at Marbury and Francis, who have refused to change their games to fit the team concept, for their entire careers, and now they are struggling big time.

Year 6 and it's the same exact stuff for Curry, and except he's regressing? Hate to say "I told you so" but I never trusted him or his game, even when he was on the Bulls.
