DEFENSE!!!
OK I was at the game and more than ever I realized that you see things at the game differently than you see them at home.
Let me say what no one else will say: Marbury played some pretty damned good defense on Arenas. His ball denial on Arenas was a thing of beauty. What better way to guard your man than to deny him the ball? Beatiful.

Frye played good help D in his minutes (protecting ther basket) and grabbed alot of boards. Fish has almost convinced me that Frye ought to be a center. 3 blocks, one of them was crazy!!! Monster dunk!!! He should have gotten the ball more, guys gotta get him the rock.

Balkman and Lee!!! These guys come to play, they block shots, get steals hustle up the court on fast breaks, and they are at every single missed shot. EVERY ONE!!!! I can't find the stat for 2nd chance points, but those 2 made most of our possessions count for points. I love these guys!! They had 10 offensive rebounds a piece, blak had blocks, lee had steals and assists and they both had some nice finishes. I love these guys!!!!!

Nate did his thing as ususal, points off the bench plus a nice assist to someone, and an almost insane Alley-oop that failed. But he did what he does, which is put points on the board, and unlike other games he played decent d as well.

Q was the sharpshooter that kept Wiz out of it as they tried to creep back.

Marbs was the distrubuter/contrubuter whose 3 pointers put the nail in the coffin and made them throw up their white flag. And he got some tough no calls and wasn't playing great but still put up good effort on both ends and helped the team.

Malik Rose, Eddy Curry, Steve Francis......wtf?
Malik Rose still thinks he is Tim Duncan trapped in Malik Roses body.
Eddy Curry still thinks hes in gardening class. 5 bad games. This dude is softer than pumpkin pie...but he is still a very young boy, I have to hope he is going to get it. I would have taken the same risk Isiah did to get him here, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not frightened by his stupidity/disinterest and overall marshomellowy tenderness. Hes softer than a twinkie filling.
Steve Francis thinks he's in the cross country dribble marathon. How did he get this far with that line drive jumper?
Jamal Crawford thinks hes in a big expensive game of horse where lots of people play and lots of others pay to watch.

We won by 20, I'm a happy man, we played tough D, our 2nd unit is probably trhe best in the league. Today the first unit gave them something to work with.

Agreed. It's a start, but unless they make it a habit, it's just a blip, Bip.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Nice to see a lead. Nice to not see the second unit not in frantic mode.

DLee's nose for the ball is more impressive every week.

Most important, Marbury played a very credible game. Seemed more at ease with the game and was in the flow. He did not press it.

Team was not jumping around like they on laughing gas. It was a good professional effort.

The Special Nate arm around Isiah with about 2 min left was cute.

Spike walking Isiah to the tunnel was a joke. THe man is a film director and a paiding fan. HE has no purpose to be hanging like that.

I like spike, but he ain't a knick.

This was the game I thought we'd see against Clevelend. I think they were far less emotional last nite.

Knicks have the talent, they just need to be cool.

People keep thinking it's ability that holds the team back. They keep thinking that the fans that get sick of the losing are angry because we lack ability. IT has nothing to do with ability. We all know what they are capable of. The question is will they consistently make the sacrifices to give us consistent effort every night. Even if that turns into a 33-49 record we are in great shape. Consistency. That's all the fans want. Come to play every night and we will live with the results. We will accept the time it takes to build. But play half asse most nights and you will get boo'd.

No more blips!!

I believe in every game the knicks play this kind of D. Today was the first time we continued to score all game and this wasn't because the shots were all falling. It was because when we went threw our drout last nite we still scored because the energy guys were in the game and we kept them in. Isiah didn't allow the first unit to come in a fall a sleep and give up the game. Even though teams score 100 plus on us ever game and torch us at times............... in ever game we make teams look terrible shooting the ball for atleast a quarter to a halfs worth of time. Which is why we make these come backs in every game. The first unit is falling a sleep nd giving up these big scoring quarters. Fastbreak points & Offense rebounding is what this team should be trying to force. Balkman, Lee, Nate should play more!!!!!!!! Breakup Marbury/francis & Curry/frye.

i think the team flows alot better & plays w/alot more energy & intensity when Marbury & Francis are on the bench... when Nate, Jamal, Balkman, Lee & Curry were on the floor, they pulled away w/their energy & squashed the little mini run the Wizards tried to make in the 4th quarter... it also helped that WAS played w/no desire or focus whatsoever... they got beat to every loose ball & rebound it seemed... David Lee & Balkman were awesome all night long... one would have to wonder why those guys don't get more playing time on a nightly basis.

i say stay the course w/the young kids & let them grow together & gel... to hell w/guys that don't have any future here.

NO MORE BIPS!!!

LOL, the curry hate is so deep I was going to let that comment slide because he probably doesn't even mean it.

It hurts them to give him any credit at all. But he wasn't hot, shot poorly (except from 3) and still helped the team in other ways. You gotta respect that and call a spade a spade.

the team played a helluva lot better when Nate & Jamal were on the floor & Marbury was on the bench... sorry if i don't jump through hoops to give Marbury credit for that.

No one is afraid of giving Marbury credit, when he deserves some he'll get some. It's just sad that the only time he plays decent defense is when his scoring isn't there. If he could put them together and find a happy medium then I'll give him some credit.

btw, i gave Marbury plenty of props in my post game analysis of the 1st game vs. Memphis... i don't hate on the guy for the hell of it, but when i see the team gelling much better when he's off the floor, i don't feel the need to give the guy props, i'm sorry.

Yep........ I think people blank it out like a rape memory. My point of veiw was marbury made alot happen last night moving the ball, pushing the pace and playing D. I love it when marbury get's his points on the fastbreak, it makes the game sooo much easier.

Well the important thing is that this team has been making GRADUAL progress. It seems that some of us are still not quite seeing that. It takes time to put a group together and give them a new system and have everyone feel comfortable from the start. Sometimes it just clicks, but most of the time it takes a while for everyone to find their niche. From the look of things this team is starting to JELL. We have a long way to go, but they've been trying to get it right all along.

This Wizards game was the kind of performance we've been waiting for when MOST of the players simply did their job. Guys have roles and they fullfilled those roles. This may be the 1st time i've seen Frye and Curry have a blocked shot in the same game this year. Curry get's bashed but he was trying. He had one block erased and I thought the refs blew that. Lee and Balkman give this team the kind of hustle and presence we really need. We still have Jared in reserve, so there's a chance we can even improve some more in terms of putting a good defensive unit on the floor.

Isiah is getting better at using his troops too. He sensed when the energy level was dropping and inserted guys at the right time. Despite all the bashing Isiah takes. He's actually doing a good job with this team. This is a BRUTAL opening schedule and he's keeping the team together and focused on improving. Last night was a prime example of that. His team came out ready to play and they maintained that for 48.

i actually have had no problems w/the way Isiah's been coaching this season... he's sticking w/the hot hands & leaving the guys who are showing effort on the floor (w/the exception of him reinserting Marbury back into the game when he was struggling a couple nights ago)... it seems the young guys are playing hard for him, & that's all any Knick fan could possibly ask for out of them... this is what i envisioned a while back when there was talk about who should be the new head coach & LB was still coaching the Pistons... i figured if anyone would get through to these guys, it would be Isiah.

the only problem i have w/his rotations this year is he insists on starting the guys who stagnate the offense & the team finds itself behind in most games playing catchup... this inexplicable loyalty to his poster child Marbury is holding this team back from progressing to the next level IMHO... & why is David Lee not starting games? 10 points & 15 rebounds last night! What?! get this guy more minutes now!
