well, that's really francis for tmac and both were big time players when they were traded for each other.

What about Kidd to the Nets for Marbury?

He turned into a franchise player, and they had multiple Finals appearances.

But to be fair to Briggs, it generally is rare to see this happen

Yup, and we're in cap hell and draft pick purgatory.

that was a lotto pick for lotto pick trade.

it's happened, but I think we all get the point - it's extremely unlikely.

There have been a lot of very good players that have come via trade. We got Sprewell, Oakley, Camby (for an aging Oakley) and DeBusschere via trade.

Franchise player-

Certainly Oakley to me was a superstar role player- but he was traded for Bill Cartwright and Bill was a high pick.

Sprewell wasn't franchise talent.

Ben Wallace for a broken Grant Hill in a trade- but, Detroit got very lucky that Ben turned into something.

Closest thing might be Artest, but I would consider him more of a second tier franchise talent.

The correct answer Mr Dolan is NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i guess the point trying to be addressed here is that the Knicks don't have a high lottery pick this season, nor do they have tradeable assets to get a true franchise player or cap room to sign one... thanks for stating the obvious... i'm sure everyone here appreciates being constantly reminded of the sad state of affairs this team finds itself in day in & day out.
