David West was dominating rebounder in CBB. Frye never was. In fact Frye wasnt even a dominating player in CBB in any facet of the game. He was never even the best player on his team. He was regarded as a fundamentally sound center in a division where the next best center was Ike Diogu. At the start of his senior year Frye was regarded as a bubble first rounder. A guy that maybe with a great Chicago camp could play himself into the 20s and get a guarenteed deal. Anyone remember this?
What happened next was Frye had a terrific NCAA tourney, the Knicks traded their only frontcourt player and the rest is history. Frye has always been a skilled bigman. He's never been a dominating player in any facet of the game since he was in high school.
