PG Mardy Collins 6'6
SG Nate 5'8
SF QRich 6'6
PF David Lee 6'9
C Channing Frye 6'11
Bench: Crawford, Balkman, Malik Rose, Jackie Butler

This offseason we would be looking at over $20mm in cap space

That team probably wins 30 games but I bet we are in almost every game because that group will play hard and defend. We have a lottery pick due to us in one of the deepest drafts in several years.

I don't mean to say I disagree with your sentiment, I hope the team goes this direction over the next few years, keeps drafting and developing young, exciting players who play HARD and maybe catch some luck and sign Bron or Wade.

edit: really, after 2007, our lotto picks in 2008 and 2009 are protected, so I hope Dolan realizes that the fan base would rather see well-intentioned effort than well-paid nuthin. I think the waiving of Jalen and Mo Taylor is actually a good sign for those who want fiscal sanity.

isn't it a little late to be second guessing the Eddy Curry trade again? that topic's been hashed & rehashed so many times by now... can we just move on from that one & see that we have a talented young bigman who's showing improvement in his game this season & seems to be ready to take the next step in his development?

it's second guessing the Marbury, Francis, Rose and Taylor trades as well. not to mention the fact that we'd have an 04 lotto pick to deal with.

but, strangely, it's not second-guessing Isiah's draft record.

I just wish Isiah had been hired with more patience from Dolan. at the introductory press conference for Isiah they asked how long it would take to make the playoffs, Isiah said it would take a long time, they had to completely retool the team, etc. Dolan cut in and said they would make the playoffs that season. I think that colored Isiah's tenure here. had Dolan said, I trust Isiah to make the right decisions to make us good again, I don't know that things would have played out the same way.

I don't think the Garden would boo that team because the list of players you've included bring hustle, energy, heart and overall effort. They are definitely not perfect players, but I think they'd be scrappy. New Yorkers love scrappy teams.

However, I think our current team could be ok with the right combination of luck and work ethic. Last night's game could be categorized as a fluke, but if we have enough flukes like that -- the winning could be contagious. And maybe, just maybe, guys will realize that if you try hard -- luck might help you out.

One difference between this season and last season is that we've already gotten lucky a few times. That can have a profound effect on a team's attitude.

Last year's team was cursed. Hopefully this year's team is blessed.

I'm not being sarcastic at all. Fans in NYC have booed everyone deserving and not, including Starks, Ewing, Oakley, Mark Jackson, the Red Holzaman Knicks too.

That team would not be good, and the fans would boo them when they did not get the positive results no matter how hard they tried.

Look at what crzy said, they would boo Frye. Has Frye been trying hard? Yes. Has he been playing well? No.

still, Frye's a borderline all-star, so the fact that they're booing is nuts...

Last year, in the first 5 games, they tried hard and had no wins to show for it.

One game at a time...I had a dream the knicks came back from the trip 3-0.

They booed EWING! I repeat, the booed Ewing!

i completely understand Isiah getting criticized for the moves he's made because he deserves just about all that he gets thrown at him, & i don't blame anyone at all for having given up on his "vision" of constructing a championship team or not having faith in him to turn this around... i guess it's just a weird time to be bringing up a thread like this after they had such a dramatic win last night at DEN... if we see Curry playing like crap & the veterans Marbury & Francis being malcontents, then i can see where the motivation would be to bring up this topic again, but anyone who sits here & says they weren't at the edge of their seats last night watching Crawford in the zone taking that Nuggets team apart w/his antics is lying... if we have a season full of games like that one, i don't think anyone at the Garden would be booing them either.

well, cap room is good for more than just siging FAs. You can trade a kid for Zach Randolph, or Lamar Odom. Not that I would but you dont have to match salaries if you have space. Bottom line is you have a ton of options. And fans arent dumb. They didnt boo early last year when we started slow, because of LArry's rep. Isiah's rep? Curry's rep? Different story. People are booing because they see nothing but more of the same

true. they've tested even my patience, and I have more patience for Isiah than most. I think it's affecting a lot of them right now, particularly Marbury and Frye. there's so much pressure on Marbury to prove himself this season and Frye has to just be feeling the pressure of increased responsibility and maybe somewhat being called Duncan jr by a lot of giddy fans.

I don't know about cap room, but the lotto picks thing is really killing me lately. I don't trust NY to spend cap room wisely, even in a trade - even grunfeld made some odd decisions when he had cap room, and remember without Ewing that team he assembled was only a .500 team. but looking at Isiah's draft record and thinking about what he could have done with lotto picks in 2004 and 2006 does hurt. I don't think you build a team through free agency, there've been exceptions of course, but it's inarguable that you need top of the lotto talent on the team.
