After seeing this team for a few games it is obvious that some things need to be changed.
The starting lineup is week on defense and rebounds. I think the team would actually be better if the lineups were more balanced. Here is what I think the lineup should be when Jeffries returns.

C- Curry
PF- Lee
SF- Jeffries
SG - Q-Rich
PG - Marbury

Lee definately needs to start over Frye, his rebounding is much needed. The guy hustles and is not shy about taking his shot. He is getting double doubles off the bench with reserve minutes. He goes after balls (oakley)
Jeffries, if he can defend as well as the hype says he can he should we an asset and worth the money.
Q-Rich definately deserves to start, he is the only starter in all the crap games that has played with any intensity. He looks like a new player, plays aggressive D, can score the ball, and rebounds well for a guard.

Coming off the bench is where I see potential problems.
Frye is better suited in the spot minutes like last year. He will be better, it just doesnt look like it now. (i'm willing to give a few more games to prove himself, but we cant sacrifice LEE's performance for what we think Frye might do.
We will more than likely have to run a 3 guard rotation off the bench. Nate Rob is playing to dam good to lose his minutes to Francis. In fact, he should get minutes over Francis, he should be the first person off the bench.

What do you guys think ? The current starters we have now, just exchange buckets with the other team, then we end up going down double digits early because no one hits all their shots all the time. We need a defense minded group
Please discuss. I'm interested to see if others share my opinion

it's just so strange cuz last year Channing was thriving early in the season playing alongside Curry in the starting rotation... i'm not sure even going to the bench will solve his problems... he just is not on the same page w/any of his teammates... better get his head screwed on straight soon.

but i agree w/ur starting rotation there... it's a good blend of rebounders, height, post up players, defenders & perimeter shooters... hopefully Jared isn't out for too much longer... i would probably start Jamal at the 2 & Q at the 3 until then.

agreed,
you can only play catchup for so long. current line up are not hustlers, they play defense on momentum, so if they shoot well, they defend well. should be the other way around.
For lee and qrich and nate they defend and hustle no matter what.

Last season Frye had something like 15 starts and I am guess that Malik was also a start if Curry and Frye were out there. NY needs a director for their defense and they don't have it with the current lineup and so Curry and Frye are lost. Also, LB slowed EVERYTHING down and buth Curry and Frye were the focal points on the O end of things with lots of post play. In the Isiah offense, the ball tends to be in the guards hands more.

Is it me or the more Isiah's bunch plays out of control the more plays he actually calls. He seemed to call a lot last night.

i honestly didn't notice that last night... it seemed like Jamal was on his own on iso's almost every possession down the stretch... that triangle play or whatever it was when the ball swung around & then down to Curry low in the post & then back out to Marbury where he hit that big 3 to tie up the game could have been disastrous... good thing Curry didn't turn the ball over on that play.

on a random note, i thought David Lee did a GREAT job last night catching balls that were dished off to him in the paint off the G penetration... he really has great hands & knows how to finish in traffic... & more importantly, he always seems to know when & where to cut into the lane to give those penetrators an open avenue to get him the ball in traffic... he never ceases to impress me every single time i watch him play... Isiah gets mad kudos from me for taking that kid last year.

Your 100% correct. Isiah was up out of his seat last night. Even Clyde made a mention of this. I have been wondering to myself since the season started what was going on with this "offense" that Isiah was speaking of all summer. It looked like way too much freelance, and not enough SHARP cuts to the basket off screens.

I thought the kids ran the plays better in the summer. Like I said the kids made Sharp/hard cuts off screens as opposed to lacidasicle cuts by some of the Vets. Also, its a mentality. Balkman and Collins aren;t the type of players to stand atop the key pounding the rock. Its in there nature to move the ball, then move without it. I say give it more time but, Marbury, Francis and Craw are programmed to pound the ball and have to deprogram themselves which is hard to imagine. And when they do stop pounding the ball, they seem to just float. No reason for Marbury to only take 6 shots. Thats insane!

it's cause they have no leadership out there. Marb and Jamal (and Fran) don't know how to run a team. Isiah is just finding this out himself. Don't matter the system you put in place if your PGs and leaders don't know how to execute it.

Let's see if this coaching trend continues. To be truly fair to the team, we need to give them more time to get comfortable. Remember everything is still fairly new, they are stil getting used to playing with each other (in this rotation) and learning their roles, learning their offense, learning their coach. What they dont seem to be learning is defense.
We have a tough novemeber, lets see if we can build some momentum behind this win. Let's see if they can survive november, maybe somehow end up .500 on dec 1. I know its a long shot, but they really just need to put together a couple of wins in a row. We were in this game, and we came back against SA.
