If I'm not mistaken Karl Malone was in that draft but went kinda low.

Who did indiana pick again? Lol.

Ny without the pat ewing era?

Indiana took Wayman Tisdale. Oak went 9th overall. Mullin was in that draft, too. As was Malone. And Joe Dumars. And Detlef Schrempf. pretty decent draft.

interesting note while looking on draft.net. in 1984, the NBA awarded the Cavaliers the 12th pick overall because the previous owners of the franchise had traded away so many picks over the years. maybe someday, we'll get that provision

Wayman is a jazz musician now, lol.

Thanks for posting that 6 round long draft! I was trying to do it but its just too much.

So what would the knicks have done? x-man?

At the time the knicks were terrible. They were plagued by injuries and needed everything.

Dude that 2nd pick sucked cuz look at what came after. Beniot was good but he was a major puss and didn't stick around, tisdale was a nice player but not good enough to out that high of a pick on. Then we got joe kliene, John koncak? Wtf? The knicks would have been screwed. Chris mullin and Karl Malone would have been stretches. No one thought either player would have done what they did in their careers.

I think the luck of that draft screwed any chance of the knicks having any luck ever! Geez.

Which leads me to a different question.

With 20/20 hindsight, did the Knicks screw up because they took Ewing over Malone? Would we have won with Malone instead of Big Pat?
Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

I want big pat all the way. The problem with the knicks was they didn't even try to get him help outside of Charles oakley. Mason and starks fell into the knicks laps. You can go down the line with all of ewings teamates. Guys over achieved. Poor ewing was all alone. There were good times but the knicks needed to get ewing help.

Utah knew how to build around Karl. They just ran into Chicago. Guess you can say the same with the knicks but ewing clearly didn't have help.

I doubt it. Most non-Knick fans probably think more highly of Malone than Ewing just because Ewing never gets a fair shake. But put a hall-of-fame PG with Ewing and put him outside of the conference Jordan was in, and I bet he accomplishes a lot more than Malone did.

If only Bernard King didn't tear up his knee Ewing would have had all the help he needed! And maybe Jordan wouldn't have all those rings!

I was pretty bummed when the Pacers took Chuck "The Rifleman" Person 4th in the 1986 draft (we really needed an outside shooter) and the Knicks were stuck with Kenny "Sky" Walker.

That's a big one too. Chuck person would have taken the knicks to another level. Chuck was a very good scorer. Check his stats.

Knicks did get Xavier McDaniel and that was nice but the next year came the Charles smith era like huh? Knicks always needed that second scorer. Charles smith was actually a good player, before he came to ny like everyone else, sigh. Knicks needed that shooter.

Getting rolando blackman was a joke too. He was coming off a typical season before he came to the knicks, sigh. The guy became a knick looking like a guy that was ready to retire. He was old.

Zach Randolph.

If we did not get pat we would have had a still higher pick the next year.

Brad Daughtery went no. 1 and was a Tim Duncan player until injuries slowed him. Im thinking we would have had a no. 2 pick which was Len Bias.

If we didn't get Ewing, we could have taken Uwe Blab. Not much of a player, but what a name!
