FRYE DOESN'T HAVE A FEEL FOR THE GAME IN THE PAINT.

He's not use to playing against guys who are stronger than him.

He reminds me of a surburban kid with skillz going to play ball in the hood and doesn't understand how to get gritty without looking out of place.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

He'll be okay. He's still traumatized from last season when Larry was mean to him.

Frye needs to be traded back to the Pac10 where he can play in a guard-dominated conference again.

Good analogy. He is certainly playing like he doesn't want to be here. It's the begining of the season so there is no reason to be slumping. Still no free throws for the season, I wonder how many other starters or yet to shoot a free throw. This indicative of a lack of effort for a power forward. I mean or rebound or put back you should be in a position to be fouled.

I think Frye put on way too much weight this summer and may not be fully recovered from his injury. he still looks like garbage, but I don't know if it makes sense to trade him when his value is so low. wait for him to get healthy again.

I don't think he and Curry can start together though.

almost looks like he hasn't even practiced w/these guys either... if it was just his lack of mobility due to his knee injury from last season & his added weight i wouldn't worry as much... he's not just missing shots & playing bad defense, but also fumbling passes thrown to him & being very hesitant w/what to do w/the ball once he gets it... he looks completely lost on the floor... i have to wonder if Isiah's newfangled system just has him completely confused.

I think the key is, wait for him to get healthy again. He is not healthy and he is a second year player. A year ago he was a canidate for the roy.

I don't know. He sure was looking pretty promising, before that knee injury that ended his season last year. I think that' has something to do with his present struggles. It certainly isn't a lack of skills. Might be a lack of confidence because of the injury. I mean, that must of hurt like hell. I had something like that happen to me, when I was seven, but I was hit by a car speeding down the street and in the hospital for a month and a half. Something like that can definately have an affect on a persons confidence. I get a little paranoid crossing the streets to this day.
I'll never trust this' team again.

If Frye is injured it's something other than last years knee injury. He was saying he was 100% back in July, and was said to be practicing at the knicks facility all summer, and said to have had a good training camp:

LAS VEGAS, NV, July 10, 2006 -- Channing Frye answered the most important question right away.
“The knee is good, I feel one hundred percent,”
said the Knicks’ First Team All-Rookie forward. “It’s just too bad I hurt my ankle, so I’m not going to have a chance to get out there.”

Frye was heading into the home stretch of one of the best seasons for a Knicks rookie in more than two decades – 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds worth in 65 games – when a sprained left knee ligament ended his campaign abruptly on March 21. Surgery was not required, and the subsequent weeks of rehabilitation culminated in Frye’s return to active duty in this week’s Toshiba Vegas Summer League.

In the Knicks’ opening contest in Las Vegas, Frye scored 19 points and added five rebounds in 26 minutes against Cleveland.

I also don't think it's his added weight. He says he only added 5 lbs:

Early reports had Frye adding as many as 15 pounds to his 6-foot-11 frame. When told that figure, he laughed it off.

“I bulked up a little bit, but it’s not 15 pounds,” he said. “It’s more like five. I just got a lot in my legs from doing a lot of rehab. It’s just all athletic muscle.

I don't think Frye's current issues are physical.

Frye needs to be introduced to the PNR again except with Crawford or Steve running it with him to build his confidence up. Zeke had him oporating in the offense behind the 3pt line first couple of games and of course it was bound to be bad for Frye. Although today he parked in the post a couple times against TD it was the wrong game to try and get back to basics.

I also liked how Eddy gaurded TD like Zeke said he would before tip-off............ F'N Lip Service lying GM.

Yes, it definitely doesn't look like the knee is bothering him, b/c I still see him going all out and hustling down the court. His problem is completely mental, and it's bad and it's also continueing from last year. I stated numerous times LAST YEAR that Channing passes up on way too many wide open shots, which 1) Takes away scoring opportunities, and 2) Completely messes up the offense.

Frye looked bewildered out there today and didn't even know what to do with the ball when it was in his hands. This has nothing to do with skill. I am hoping he doesn't have the Keith Van Horn mentality.

Great analogy KVH syndrome. Frye is shell shocked playing under Isiah in a do or die season. Everybody who makes it to the NBA can't perform in MSG. He clearly is one of the players Isiah mentioned was weak mentally.

Funny thing is, he had a strong enough mentality to play for and excel under LB. Thomas has been making this a cakewalk for these guys. I really think it is Isiah's system. And that Isiah is not as good a coach as LB.

Frye needs to come off the bench so that he can get his mind right. Nothing helps someone with his mindset like low expectations.

the funny part of all this is that Isiah said on the radio he doesn't want Channing to become a 20 foot perimeter shooter for this team, yet he draws up plays where Channing is spotting up behind the 3 pt. line after time outs... what am i missing here?

I think if you watch him he has some really nice moves that for some reason he is just not finishing. I was at the game last night and you could see he practicing post moves on Cato (who looks like a good teacher). Interestingly, none of the shots were dropping, despite the moves seeming to look good.

To me, I'd say this is a classic confidence issue where he's thinking about things too much. Isiah tried to feature Channing early last night, and he just couldn't hit jack.

As for drawing 3 pt plays, that's hogwash, TMS. Did you watch the game yesterday? Frye did not attempt any 3's, my friend. I was also there, and I dunno if you noticed but NEVER did I see Frye attempt any shots that were not within his own skill set. I thought Isiah was trying to get Frye's confidence up, by giving him a lot of shots early in the game. It didn't work, but you this Frye is garbage stuff is so full of holes. Maybe he does turn out to be not a great player, but I think it's far too soon to start running the guy out of town. It's not his fault that he found himself on a team with so many fans who are all on the verge of a nervous breakdown over the way the team is run. Let him grow, then we'll see what he turns out like.

I also thought Frye played good D on Duncan, which was maybe his best defensive performance as a Knick.

It's possible that Frye just isn't that good, and we were so desperate for hope last year that when we saw him hitting a few mid range jumpers we had no other choice but to dream that he was the next Duncan.
