"There was interest in Memphis' Stromile Swift, but the Grizzlies have taken him off the block after his strong start. "

"A league source said the Knicks contacted Portland again yesterday, but it wasn't ready to make a Sprewell bid. Three Blazers were involved in off-the-court incidents the past 10 days. " "If it was unlikely before, it became even more unlikely after," the source said.

"Meanwhile, sources said Layden had discussions with the Suns president Bryan Colangelo, but Layden wasn't interested in Penny Hardaway. " good thing we didn't take penny

Im glad that layden stood Pat. I wouldve like to see him acquire Stromile Swift, but Im sure glad he didn't take on aother bloated contract like Fortson's.

With all the bad moves that management has made in the past, its good
to see them making good moves by not making any moves at all (with the
exception and by not acquiring Mutombo in the off season.)

Knicks can do a better job with training camp invite. maybe its better or them to invite player who can play. Why didnt they invite El-Amin, Jimmy Jackson, Some Rucker players. Instead they brought in some 35 y/o players into camp. Knicks need to do a better job with scouting talent.

Fritz, I agree with you, but El-Amin and Jackson?

Gimme a break, El AMin is a talentless Donut who was cut by the Bulls and Jimmy Jackson is an old has been of a guard (where we all know t he Knicks have a glut.)

Yeah, I'm not too big on El-Amin and Jackson, but a big man invite would be nice...There have to be some diamonds in the rough somewhere...

Big man was our biggest need and they had only 1 big man they brought in was Pope who had no shot of making the team. I thought maybe they would bring in some young guys who may have fallen out of the league or never got drafted. Pope has been comming to camp for years, I rather them try guys out during camp. Thats how Philly got Amil McCaskill and that other guy.

I agree,we need to start back from cap hell and taking on more lousy contracts wont make that possible.Layden did try to get Mutombo though
but dolan vetoed it,the only smart thing he has done.I will say that layden seems to be wising up a little, not that he has much choice.

Best thing he could of done is stay put. No need to pay a player like Swift 9+ million with the salary cap taken in and all. The Knicks best bet is still the draft. Hope and pray they get in the top three. This winning of late is gonna cost them in the end just like last year with Houston Rockets edging them out for the sixth spot they ended up getting the top pick. Oh well atleast Layden did the right thng. This team just might end up in the playoffs or somewhere close to it.

Winning is great but how many here think they actually got a shot at getting to the big dance. The Knicks once again are headed to nomans land. they will make the playoffs and get knocked out and give the fans a false sense success, or they miss the eight spot and end up picking in the middle of the draft.

asking price was too high for swift. Swift only makes like 2.5mil. They wanted a pick also. It might have been a future pick but I wouldnt give a 1st rounder for him.

I confused Fortson's salary with Swift. But its good the Knicks didn't do the trade. The pick is all important and only thing of value the Knicks have.

Fortson is a bum. His value would be higher if he kept his mouth shut. He insists hes the greatest. Beside rebounding this kid has nothing. If the Warriors would take garbage contract id get him, but not for something valueable. Id give them Spoon + Harrington and thats about it. No way id give Ward and Knight who only have 1 more year under contract.

I agree with that. Fortson is highly overated player. If he can't get time on GS why would I want him on the Knicks. The man is simply overrated one dementional player. If they could get height like Foyle or Dampier I might consider but Fortson never liked him as a player. He is the same as Spoon we don't need any more undersized PF the Knicks need size 6'10'' and above with athletic abilty only.
