If you watched the game you would have seen Curry was actually pretty active. He was help defending everywhere to his own detriment statistically. Our guards were burned repeatedly by Joe Johnson so Curry would come over to help so often and they would find Zaza wide open. Nobody would rotate to Currys man. Curry really is becoming a larger factor in the lane, He also had 2-3 blocks wiped out by other peoples fouls. I didnt see Curry missing many rebounds. Many of them were long or he was in positition and just let his own teammate grab them. Still he needs to get more aggressive on the boards. I really wish Isiah would hire a real big mans coach for both Curry and Frye. Isiah going with Curry and 4 guards was really lame at one point. Also if you wathed the game on league pass you would have heard the Atlanta announcers raving about him over and over. "We have no way to stop Curry. Everytime he gets the ball something good happens. Good thing the Knicks are not giving it to him often tonight" That quote might be off by a word or 2 based on memory. Also Curry has shown major improvemnt in his hoop smarts this season. He is passing much better other than 1 cross court throw away. Still at least he is looking to pass when doubled. He had a 4 assist game in the preseason preceded by a 2 assist game. He is taking some outside shots now as well. Lastly at one point out of nowhere last night Curry drives accross the lane for a 1 handed left handed windmill dunk. Even the announcers were like where the heck did that come from. Ive never seen him do that before. He usually dunks with 2 hands or his right hand. Ive never seen him do that left handed winmill so suddenly off a dribble drive.

Anyway Curry still has a long way to go but you can see outside of Qrich Curry is the most improved Knick so far this season
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

it seems that this offense is designed to get eddy easy baskets. which is a good thing, especially after what we gave up for him. but they ABANDON this offense every 4th quarter when the defense tightens up and eddy rarely gets the ball.

y'all know my feelings on eddy but GET HIM THE DAMN BALL.

I dont think this offense is designed for any one player. It is designed to hopefully get some easy buckets before the defense sets. Only problem is we still push the ball on the ground not threw the air so its really not that fast an offense still.
We do need to get EC the ball more. Part of that is on the guards an part is on EC. We need that to be addressed in coaching. Not by saying to do it. But by working as a unit in practice and showing EC and the guards what to do in various situations. If the first option pass isnt there these guys need to be taught to adjust.
IF guys are going to front EC and lean back on him EC needs to start pulling the chair and going to the rim. Let his man fall down a few times and gets so easy put backs at the rim. The guards have to see he is fronted and look for the lob to the rim instead of the lob pass. That will stop some of the fronting.
If EC is played behind they need to fake the pass up and throw a bounce pass. THEN CUT! We never have any cutters. Curtters are key instead of isolation. It gets the defense moving. So either a cutter is open to the rim or it clears out the lane for EC to really work one on one.
The question is why cant Isiah get a real big mans coach to work on this stuff. Also I would love to see Eddy develop a spin move and a drop step move thats polished. He uses them on occasion but I want them used 4-5 times every game. He will when they are polished. Once again hire a big mans coach. Lastly EC has to be pushed to dropped 20 more pounds. Tell EC dude you are playing at near an all star level. If you drop 20 you will be in that all star game year after year and the game will come much easier for you.
Despite all Currys flaws you can see obvious progress so far. Thats impressive because it must be frustrating sometimes when he runs the court so hard and doesnt get the ball

Is there a way we can trade Francis or Marbury? We cannot have any significant improvement with both those guys on the team. We need to start Q with our front like of Jeffries, Lee/Frye and Curry.

Agreed. Good post SugarRay. And i also agree with you about the big man coach. I was talking to gunsnewing last night during the game and he made the same point. Who is a good bigmans coach?

i talked to friend about this recently. i don't think francis or marbury have a place on this team but even if we remove them, our frontcourt defense is so poor that it won't matter. it helps to develop nate, craw, and quentin but the fundamental problem of this team is defense. and that's why we lose more than we win. we need to fix the frontcourt. although i have no problems just waiving marbury or francis, we'll still have problems. but at least we can watch a younger team try to grow.

Is there a more talented backcourt in the league, or in the history of the league that has such a low BB IQ? Not just having Special nate which of course can lower the IQ of a 20,000 seat arena, but his Special friend Craw, and the mentally challanged duo we call Franbury.

Remember we used to marvel how Charlie used to get so much out of his talent and over come knee problems by being a strong leader?

Or Harper/Rivers on their last legs would apply tough veteran leadership to get the job done thru hard work, smart play, and guts?

Watching Starbury not make a simple pass for an easy bucket but instead get called for an offensive foul was sad. Richardson didn't want to help him up off the floor. Even if he got the call, Starbury's seemingly 50% from the foul line with under 3 minutes left in most games is getting old. Mr. clutch he is not.

Curry can be a great player with the right system. When eddy gets the ball while in motion he is perhaps the most unstoppable player short of shaq. He is not a ewing player, he is different.

The guy I would want sentimentally would be Patrick. The guy my head tells me to get is the guy Orlando hired for Dwight Howard a couple of years ago. Howard raved about the guy. He isnt a big name but people say Clifford Ray is the best big mans coach in the NBA. I would hire him yesterday. I think Isiah is afraid to hire Patrick because he doesnt want the fans associating with a former knicks hero. Plus he doesnt want to hurt aguires feelings. I think if you hire Clifford Ray that Curry and frye will improve 35%.

Curry is looking really impressive on offense. He has developed a jumpshot and is cutting down on the offensive fouls. In fact, some of the offensive fouls that have been called on him were really iffy. His defense also seems to have improved, which is really suprising considering how he played in the pre-season. His help defense and shot-blocking have improved. He still needs to get more rebounds but he has improved in just about every other facet of his game. If he can continue to grow over the course of the season, we might have found our center for the next 7 years.

Curry was open all night and if there was a game that eddy should have had a career night it was yesterday.

Yes marbs and Francis are redundant. Yes neither can remember eddy curry. Nate Robinson might be better than both of them. Frye is a punk ass. Q rich is the knicks best player.

After 2 games its so obvious. Indiana is a physical team and will be a real test. If the knicks play like they did the last few games they will get trashed in Indiana.

I agree. I also think this orgainzation needs to teach our guards how to handle the ball better, teach everyone to handle the ball better and find all of these players strengths in defense. If the Knicks can close some of these fukn gaps, there would be less points scored against us, and our offense would win some games.

Curry was at a disadvantage last night, cuz he had to try and help our guards too much. This takes him away from the basket and that means fewer rebounds and giving up easy baskets to Pachulia. Basically the Hawks started to execute their offense and we didn't. It seems our guards are not consistent in running the sets and making good cuts to the basket like they should. They also aren't looking for Curry as much as they should. When we do the right things on offense we are tough to stop. I still think it's going to take time for this team to get it right for the entire game and trust the offense in the 4th qtr. Curry has been able to keep his stamina but they're just waisting his time on the floor when they don't go to him consistently.

It's a sad fact that they are not consistent, especially star and fran. Not to mention, when they are both' on the floor together, they take away height. Curry's problem is that Jeffries is out for another few months, and he doesn't have a lot of help in the paint areas.

I think Frye should start really hacking people and learn how to avoid it from that point, even if it means fouling out a few times. Work 'backwards' for a change, while teaching yourself to be a better defender.
I'll never trust this' team again.
