Recently waived Rose will sign with SunsESPN.com news services

The Jalen Rose sweepstakes appear to be over.

The winner? Phoenix.

According to his personal blog at JalenRose.com, Rose has chosen to play in Phoenix after being courted by the Suns, Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons.

The office of Rose's agent Arn Tellem confirmed to the Associated Press that the posting was correct, but the Suns said they had yet to hear from either the player or agent.

Rose, who received a $14.5 million buyout from the New York Knicks, reportedly had narrowed his choices to Miami and Phoenix. The Heat could pay more than the Suns, who offered the veteran minimum of about $1.2 million, much of which is paid by the NBA.

"Being waived by the New York Knicks has created an opportunity for me to find a team to play on that will hopefully get me back into the playoffs with a realistic opportunity to win a NBA Championship," Rose wrote. "I am lucky and thankful to the numerous teams that have shown interest in me over the past few days, in particular Joe Dumars and my hometown Pistons and Pat Riley and the Miami Heat.

"Choosing the next chapter in my career has been difficult but I am proud to announce that I am now a member of the ... PHOENIX SUNS. I look forward to getting this season started and hope to see you at the Larry O'Brien championship trophy presentation in June. The stage is set, now its time to grind!"

The trophy is named the Larry O'Brien trophy in honor of the former NBA commissioner.

The Suns would be Rose's sixth NBA team. The 33-year-old, 6-foot-8 swingman has a career average of 14.7 points per game. He averaged 12.7 points in 26 games for the Knicks last season after being acquired from the Toronto Raptors.

It's unclear where he would fit into the Suns' already deep rotation.

Rose wants to follow the path of Tim Thomas, who parlayed a successful stint with the Suns last season into a lucrative contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. Rose would be playing in a fast-paced style directed by two-time MVP point guard Steve Nash, rather than the more structured approach of Pat Riley's Heat.

Rose began his career in Denver, then moved to Indiana and Chicago before joining the Raptors.

I agree with the sentiment that Jalen helps a veteran team with a shot to win it all far more than he helps our young team that needs to establish its identity.

Isiah was nuts to let his contract go. His contract was a huge bargaining chip as was Mo Taylors. Isiah is so up in Annucha's Butt he doesn't know what he is doing.

Isaih knows very well what he is doing - humiliating Knicks funs and NewYorkers in general.
And he is pretty successfull. **** him.

That chip would have yielded a longer contract in return. Dolan will no longer give Isiah that privilege, which has been widely reported.

Give Miami an extra defender for title run-Check.
Give Phoenix cap space for Nash-Check.
Give Chicago space for Ben Wallace, plus at least one lotto pick-Check.
Give San Antonio a servicable center, leaving us without one-Check.
Give Atlanta cap space for Joe Johnson-Check.

What exactly has he done for the Knicks?

Isiah's nuts have been removed. No expiring contract trades. This experiment will end.

We are not Phoenix East, but they are becoming "Knicks West".

We help others win with our cast offs and by giving others cap space.

Don't forget:

Give Orlando cap space to re-sign Howard and free up the PG position for Nelson - Check
Give Toronto the financial flexibility to re-sign Bosh - Check

we don't have a servicable center? last time I checked, our center is averaging 18.5ppg, 8rpg, 1.5bpg. better than Ben Wallace, not to mention about 10 yrs younger.

are you talking about Jackie Butler? do servicable centers get DNP- coach's decisions? cuz that's what Jackie got tonight.

do you seriously think Shandon Anderson had anything to do with Miami's title? or would have helped at all here?

give Atlanta cap space for joe johnson, that's a new one. really, you could say he also sent diaw to phoenix, because if they hadn't been able to trade with atlanta, they never would've gotten diaw. and really, Boston probably wouldn't have traded for Telfair if he hadn't been related to Marbury, who Thomas acquired, so there's that too. also, you have to admit, orlando never would have traded for darko if Isiah hadn't led the pistons to consecutive championships in the late 80s. and, there's the fact that Miami probably never would've gotten Shaq and Wade if Thomas had agreed to be traded to the Knicks in 1994 because the Knicks probably would have won it all, thus enticiing Riley to stay in NY, thus preventing Miami's championship, which Thomas put the coup de grace on, as you so astutely pointed out - by waiving Shandon Anderson. Really, everything Isiah has ever done has just led to other teams winning it all. look at all the rings Phoenix has. and really, when he won his two rings, that was just setting up Jordan's six. he really can't do anything right.

you can whine all you want about a road loss, but mighty Chicago lost to Orlando the other night - it happens. you can also whine about all this cap space given to other teams, but you're ignoring the fact that it was the only thing of value Isiah had to offer when he was hired here. and he was hired to make the playoffs, so this fantasy that some GM is going to be allowed to come in under Dolan and rebuild by clearing the cap and the draft is just that. don't blame the GM, blame the conditions he's been hired under.

Joe, your killing me with this stuff man! You assume worst case for anything Knicks and best case for anything non Knicks. Every single point you made favorable to the other team can be replaced with "... team made a mistake by wasting a roster spot on fat slow guy". Did you want to sit on Shandon? Did you really want Isiah to trade Rose? Puh-Leaze! Even a stretch doesn't cover your logic. Seriously, you are dangerously close to islesfan territory.

Rose is a nice pickup for Phoenix. As long as he doesn't revert to selfish ways, he will get all the shots he wants and he will rival the performances he was putting on in his Indiana hey-day, just not as a often.

It's a good spot for Ro-Ro

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I am only assuming the worst silver. I never expect it. I see what Isiah has done for the Knicks. We got a potential cornerstone center(who may or may not be motivated to play on any given day). We got 2 young-good- PF's who can play(but one seems to be a thin skinned center-the other I love). We have a dynamic, young, potentially awesome PG(who plays like he is a PURE SG).

I see what we have. My major beef is Steph and Francis. That is the only thing I hate about this team. We would have a great, young, developing team, that can grow together. So far our wins have gone down, our payroll has gone up, and we are looking set back by two years with Stephon's contract on the books.

I think Greg Anthony said it best last night on ESPN 1050-"If you're gonna lose, be cheap".

And I hope this is the year Curry breaks out. So far he had one great game and one horrible game this year that follows his pattern of great games-bad games that he has shown throughout his career.
are you talking about Jackie Butler? do servicable centers get DNP- coach's decisions? cuz that's what Jackie got tonight.
I was talking about Nazr.
do you seriously think Shandon Anderson had anything to do with Miami's title? or would have helped at all here?
So far two differnt teams with title hopes (Miami, then PHX) have chased guys that we cut. Anderson was a defender off the bench. He played 6 minutes per which isn't much, I understand that. I think that Shandon would have helped here-as a defender off the bench-if we made a decision to win now or rebuild. We are still stuck in the middle there.

When we traded for Nazr, they netted a couple short term contracts they wanted to shed, and we let them off the hook of Nazr's bigger contract. Granted it wasn't all Isiah-the Bucks sent them Pryzbilla, but we got stuck with TT. Yes, TT netted us Curry but we had other expirings to send them-Penny.

2 things-
1-Chicago was actually supposed to beat Orlando. Can you truthfully say that we were a shoe in to beat Atlanta?

2-Now I have to blame the conditions Isiah is under? The conditions he put himself in? I don't feel sorry for people who are suffering because of their own stupidity.

It's really sweet how we keep (directly or indirectly) supplying teams like Phoenix and Miami with low-cost talented players who will help them.

Amazing...
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If Amare progresses, they'll justify my prediction from last season, that they'd win the title. Marcus Banks was a GREAT addition for them.

Frank Isola (who hates Isiah and thinks he is the worst) was on with Kay a few days ago and said Rose came to camp completely out of shape and that he would not help the Knicks in anyway this season. He said we should have sit on Rose till about Jan, looked at the options and then made a decision on cutting him or trading him.
