Man where do you begin!?!? SO much **** went down last night how you need like 10 threads to discuss everything! Here are a few big points i think need to be thought about.

#1 Isisah is TOO positive: I mean seriously - We all watched the game, we all saw that we had flashes of greatness and flashes of horror. Isiah said in his post game interview "It was nothing we did wrong, It was everything they did right. They were making shots and taking it to the rim.''

Thats a direct quote. I Don't believe in Larry Browns method - in which he would have givin us NO credit for winning and just bashed the **** out of everyone.. But is this any better? You need SOME accountability. Heres what i would have liked Isiah to say:

"I'm very happy and proud that we managed to fight till the end and have enough left to pull it out. Q was huge, David was great. We still have to work on some things of course it's early on, I'd like to see a little less one on one and more ball movement, and our defense has to get better. But we won and we have to be proud of that moving forward".

Soemthing like that would have been fine i think - no? We need a MEDIUM

#2 Jamal of old?: Jamal played like **** last night... utter crap. Reminded me of John Starks in 94. Its not his miserable numbers that scared me as much as HOW he got those stats. The shots he took all night long were ATROCIOUS. Totally ruining the offensive sets, jacking up pull up 20 foot jumpers, FREELANCING and MAKING STUFF UP all game long.. Two things Isiah said he won't stand for, so i hope he at least has a talk with Jamal. We need him to be smart!!!!

#3 THE FLOPS: It's official. Opponents strategy against the Knicks? FLOP FLOP FLOP You will get the call, oh trust me... You will get the call.

Its not fair, there were at least 5 times last night when we got called for offesive fouls due to mike millers bitch ass throwing him self to the floor on account of a teeny weeny bit of contact. And what was even more upsetting was the amount of times the Grizz players TRIED to draw charges by flopping - they diddnt get all of the calls, but they sure tried. (see jamals steal leading to the blocking foul on Q fast break at the end...) The refs need to be aware of this, and so do we... Be careful - Teams are going to flop against us!!!

#4 Channings D: I'm not really worried about Channings offensive output last night - He seems to get discouraged easily but hes still young so ill give him a pass for now, but his defense - Was horrible. I posted earlier about how he gaurds pick and rolls, its sheer lack of effort and hustle. When he shows on the gaurd up top to double the ball handler, his recovery on his own man is just way way way too SLOW. And it looks like hes just not trying very hard to get back to his man. You show QUICK and you get back QUICK. He OVER shows (stays up top with the gaurd) for too long and then on TOP of it he runs back to his man too late/slow. Its really painful to watch and needs to be adressed.

#5 Keep the ball moving without turning it over: They key to our success. When players take it one on one or jack up a quick shot (Jamal, Steve etc last night) Then it really hurts us, when we move the ball around - we play well. Its that simple. Isiah needs to stress this big time.

#6 Curry needs more touches: No excuse for Curry not to have had 25 points last night... Alot of fault goes to Jamal and Steve i saw them NOT pass the ball to him when they should have many times last night. And Jamal throwing up jumpers with 20 seconds left on the shot clock every trip down the floor doesent help either. GIVE THE BALL TO EDDY!!!!

Some things NOT to worry about from last night -

Steve - Im not worried about him yet, im giving him a pass for last night. He was off and he knew it(unlike jamal), i just wish he diddnt take that shot end of regulation. Im going to give him some more time.

Channings Offensive game - He'll get there.

Currys rebounding - He was AGRESSIVE on those boards, but why diddnt Isiah play him in the 4th? he still needs a lot more touches!!!!

Q rich is back - boy is he ever

Marbury played pretty well - I think he found a nice ballence last night.

Im tired, so tired... what a game...

#4 should not be relegated to channing.

the ENTIRE TEAM's defense was atrocious. memphis is a borderline nbdl team that should've been put to rest in the 4th. the knicks gave them every opportunity to win...memphis just wasn't good enough.

lowry grabbed 10 boards and was right there at the buzzer with david for the last one.

channing's got problems that he needs to figure out. right now, malik would give the team more.

What scares me most is reading a quote somewhere this morning from Jamal saying that the shots he took were all good ones, they just didn't go down. Are you kidding me?? He looked way off his game last night trying to shoot too many runners with one leg in the air.

And Frye- He shot that first three pointer with 16 seconds on the shot clock and his feet weren't even set. I think that is the main reason IT benched him for so long after that. I'm suprised IT didn't use more of Collins to defend Chucky Atkins and maybe give him some trouble. If Chucky can do that to us then we are in for a very very long season.

that kid was amazing last night... what a hustle player! his 1 on 1 defense was great too... he's gonna be 1 of those X factor players that winning teams all seem to have.

Some credit should be given to Craw though for his 2 HUGE defensive plays down the stretch blocking Atkins and then having the game-winning steal.

I dont think there is anything wrong with Thomas being enthusiastic about the team...plus (like someone Holfresh mentioned in another thread) we don't know what goes on behind closed doors.

and as far as Jamal....I have never known to Jamal to be anything BUT a chucker. His game has never changed...people just wanted to believe it did because Brown gave him a couple of compliments

You know Jamaal really is the same player he always was and he was that player all last year except for an entire month, thats why I find it laughable whenever someone mentions getting rid of him that everyone is up in arms.

ITS 1 GAME

But his shot selection will never improve especially when its a free flowing offence, so if the right deal come along or someone is showing interest there is nothing wrong with giving him away.

Channing should not be starting he should get his 30 minutes but the guy is miserable defensivley and it only magnifies when he is out there with our terrible backcourt defenders.

WE COULD HAVE USED A PLAYER LIKE LOWRY

He is a floor leader and someone people can feed off of; someone with a motor he is a 6'1 rookie and goes out and gets 10 rebounds in his first game and showed some good poise in a tough situation.

LAST NIGHT YOU SHOULD ONLY LIKE THREE THINGS
1. David Lee's aggresive rebouding and play
2. Q regaining his form
2. Eddy Curry (5 to's disgraceful, but) 14 rebounds and 3 blocks which is terrific

DON"T BE PROUD THAT WE BEAT A TEAM OF ROOKIES AND ROLE PLAYERS, THEY TOURCHED US DEFENSIVLEY, AND WE HAD THREE PLAYERS FOUL OUT; SERIOULSY WHEN DOES THAT HAPPEN ; 19 POINT LEAD ALMOST LOST

And god I hate Isiah, and I agree its not so much what we didn;t do line = Steph it ain't yo' fault its the other players.........

Lowry was nice but I think he is just a bigger Nate, and it sure looks like Nate can shoot the ball. If Nate can provide full court defense and hound the ball, I'll be OK with him.

I'd be interested in seeing Q play the 2 position and have Jefferies at the 3.

Elite, I agree with everything you said. The defense has to improve for us to win. I dont see Francis having much success with this team. Curry has to show us every game what he did last night. Blocks and rebounds along with more stamina to stay in the game.

I like Martin's idea of starting Q at the 2 and Jeffries at the 3. That would probably help us on defense. Perhaps put D Lee as the starting PF and we might get positive results.

PF D LEE
SF Jeffries
C Curry
SG Q Rich
PG Marbury

Channing, Craw, Robinson, Balkman off bench.

that's the ideal starting 5, agreed... Lee & Q would give us some good rebounding & defense in the rotation... bring Francis, Craw & Frye off the bench for some instant offense as needed, w/Nate, Balkman & Cato coming in for some defense.

I'm with you guys on that line-up. Francis is a talented guy and hasn't become less talented over the years. He's a good player. He just doesn't fit on this team. We have 3 other guys that do what he does. Losing him would not be the end of the world.
I just hope that people will like me
