I would be satisfied just to see the Knicks hustle and play their hearts out every nite. Last season LB had them so scared to make mistakes that they just hadda keep looking at the bench for a reply on a bad play.If you look at some of the games from last year when a player turned it over or made a bad play he was worried that he would be taken out. I think IT will be more lenient because he knows the team had this mind set last year. One thing that impressed me in preseason was the time IT was sitting on the floor in front of Curry and talking to him. In all my years watching the NBA I never saw that, it was like IT was just being one of the players. Honestly,If they get off to a good start I can see this team doing a .500 season or slightly less than .500. Im confident they will make the playoffs. With all that said

What happens if they get off to a poor start? Shouldn' we still see this team as a .500 team. The start should only matter if you are a fragile team that can't handle failure. We have the same schedule regardless of who we play first.

if this team loses games cuz of lack of talent, i have no problems w/that... if they lose games cuz of lack of effort is when i have a problem... the record they have at the end of the season is really not my concern this year as much as seeing guys hustle & give it all they have every minute they're out on the floor... represent the Knicks & this city w/pride for God's sakes!

Bip I gotta figure the first 20 games are important for this team to know they can play ITs system. Ill take 8-12,9-11 or something close to that. I think the most important thing they need right now is confidence. They were a shambles last year and their body language was poor. They got bounce in their step from what I saw in the perseason.Hey either way Im just glad the season is finally starting and I can see my bball!!

I actually agree with you and that's the fatal flaw of our team. We are all praying that they get off to a good start so they don't lose confidence and fall apart. You can't build a title contender on a team who's core may implode at any moment. To this season the first 20 games are important because they may determine whether we make the playoffs or not. But if we are looking at this as a building year than the last 30 games should be more important than the first 20. Those are the games that REALLY MATTER. And if the first 20 games have a major effect on the last 30 then we have a problem.

Possible, Yes.
Probable, No.

Roughly 18 of our first 20 games are up against teams expected to make the playoffs. It's not how we start, it's how we finish.

Agreed a good start is important but remember the hardest part of the schedule comes first.

I think that Isiah is going to have the attention of his team all season. Just think, if a guy is not performing, the coach/GM/president will bench him. No player wants that.

I think the Knicks will have some chemistry this season. Just a hunch. This team finishes 40-42.

I think Marbury has no choice but toe the line. He has gotten what he always wanted and that is IT as coach. If he does not do it now. He might as well hung up the $15 sneakers.

So, I am banking on Marbury having an All-star type season and Lee, Nate and Balkman giving NY grit.

Curry will be good enough, but we will be talking about how NY needs a low post dominant player to get to the next level with IT at the helm by the end of the year.

Book it!
