He will prove if hes worth keeping by seeing what he does this week. If he cant pull off a trade that will point us in the right diection might as well fire him. Nothing will change in the next year. Knicks have had a frontcourt problem for 2 years. He has done nothing. You cant fault him for McDyess but you can fault him for all the bad moves he has made. Did he purposely make KT our C? This is crazy. The only moves he has made have negatively impacted our team. Closer to the deadline we cant do any better. This is the only time that the Knick have an oppurtunity to improve. If he cant do it now this is the same team you will see start next year.

Eisley 6 years/ 36mil - what was he thinking. trading a expiring contract for him was a double NO-NO.

Houston 7years / 100+mil - overpaid but I can live with it

Anderson 6year/ 42mil - did I miss something. I think he signed the wrong Anderson.

Spoon 4year/18mil - Mase wanted the same contract for less years (and actually was just comming off a all-star year. I couldnt even see the logic. We already had Spree, KT, Anderson, Harrington, and drafted Michael Wright.

you dont make a trade just for the sake of making a trade. Who is out there for grabs that we could use the 4.5mil exception on? I havent heard of any PFs, or Cs that were available. If you ask me, I think we are going to stnad pat. Hell, I like all this losing, looks like we are going to get a top 5 pick next year!

I never said we were rebuilding, but a top 5 pick, if we dont use it, will bring us a quality player to put with spree,houston,mcdyess, and thomas. And if we aren't rebuilding, that still doesn't mean that there is something available to use the medical exception on.

With Allan you cant turn a rookie like Lebron loose. Dont think he gonna get the green light. Hes gonna sit like every other rookie on the Knicks does.

i agree, if we get lebron, and with chaney at the helm, he probably will sit. the only reason why mcdyess came to NY, and the only way he'll stay in NY after his contract is up, is if Spree is still here. And houston isn't going anywhere either. So, if we get lebron, the only way he'll start is if houston learns to play the pg efficiently.

Lebron's passing ability and ball handling is compared to that of Magic Johnson, so if anyone is going to play PG it would be Lebron.

Normally I would agree about the Knicks sitting rookies but if we
were to get James,I believe he would get more PT than previous rookies
because he could fill seats as someone else suggested.If Dolan said
to give the kid minutes,I dont see Chaney saying no,especially
considering their infinite patience with him.He doesnt have to be a
starter to get the minutes,to be honest I havent seen him play to know
if he would be better at 1 or 2,either way if he is a Knick and the
hype is anywhere close to reality they are going to market him as the
second coming and not have him rotting on the bench.The average first
round pick would probably sit but I doubt James would,for long anyway.

Exactly, the Knicks front office and coaching may be dumb, but they are not absolute morons. When you have a talent like James coming from the draft you do not sit him on the banch and pay him millions so he can have courtside seats all season. You play him, simple as that.

Back to the original topic of this discussion - I dont see Layden moving the 4.5 mil or making any trades before it expires.
