are these recent roster cuts of mo and jalen moves made by isiah in order to help team chemistry or moves by dolan to end isiah's expiring deal debacles? expiring deals seemed to be isiah's MO. so why the sudden change?

well out of those two choices, imo, its most likely the dolan purse string thing. although i guess you think that isiah has changed his ways since you believe isiah isnt really on the hotseat.

anyway just becuase he isnt doing it this year doesnt mean he's changed strategies. its possible that now that he's the coach and the one in the hot seat he doesnt want to take any chances with cancerous personalities, and is doing whatever it takes to make sure that the team wins as many games as possible this season, even if it means giving up his best trade chips. if this is the case i wouldnt be suprised if he figures that he can revert back to expiring contract trading strategy later on with marbury and francis' contracts once his position is safer. since generally speaking thats what his philosophy for building a team seems to be (if you can call it a philosophy).

and then there's the less likely, at least imo, chance that after seeing just how hamstrung he is with james', richardson's and malik's etc, contracts Isiah plans to shift strategies from setting up to trade for next level taking talent to simply getting under the cap in order to sign said talent, at the earliest chance the knicks can do so.

long story short i voted for dolan snipped the purse strings.

Isiah has no ideal what he's doing.

I voted for Dolan snipping the purse strings but I don't think that's the cause and effect.

Just because he cut the strings doesn't mean they should be cut. I think Isiah cut them because he just doesn't want to deal with playing time issues. Or at the very least he wants to limit them.

What kind of idiot GM trades for a player making $17M and then cuts him before the next season?

Don't bother blaming LB unless you found the gun that was apparently put to Isiah's head in order to force him to make the deal.

Dolan. Isiah would have traded Jalen and a pick for Webber in February.

I agree with Islesfan. DOlan cut the strings, but Isiah realized that both MoT and Jalen were pretty much useless (ALthough, MoT could have helped our defense a little.) so he decided to cut them both. Regardless, it's bad GMing by Isiah. If he Knicks get off to a similar start as they did the past 5 years, Isiah is gone at Christmas.

I voted for Dolan. He's probably starting to realize that spending more money doesn't necessarily mean a better product. But Isaiah may not have been lobbying very hard for keeping either player. Neither one adds much.

One more comment. Whoever is responsible, it's a step in the direction of sanity.

I could see Dolan wnating to save some small amount of money but I think its Isiah. He is desparate to win this year and this is now his only real way of aquiring new players even if they are not stars.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg
