Some Wisdom from Red....

An acre of performance is worth a whole world of promise.
Red Auerbach

Basketball is like war in that offensive weapons are developed first, and it always takes a while for the defense to catch up.

Just do what you do best.

The best way to forget ones self is to look at the world with attention and love.
Red Auerbach

The commercial class has always mistrusted verbal brilliancy and wit, deeming such qualities, perhaps with some justice, frivolous and unprofitable.
Red Auerbach

The only correct actions are those that demand no explanation and no apology.

“Most of your great coaches do some teaching and developing of players. Phil may be able to do it, but he hasn't shown it. His teams have been ready-made.”

“That's something I don't want to get into. I'm here. That's what counts.”

“Phil is obviously a good coach. You don't win that many games without being a damn good coach, ... Remember one thing: He's been very fortunate. He picks his spots. That's all I can say.”

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

RIP Red, he was simply the best....

I learned more about basketball from reading about Red than anywhere else. The guy not only knew his basketball, but he was a master at getting his players to give him what he wanted. He knew how to talk to his players and he knew how to "handle" them. He was the best coach and best GM of all-time, hands down.

Not to mention, Red did as much for the NBA as anyone ever did.

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)
