The culture of the organization starts from the top. When you have a fool as a G.M, and a fool as an owner, expect fools on the court. Right now, Dolan is really giving Sterling out in Clipperland a run for his money as the biggest head dope in the league. For this team to be such a complete laughingstock, and the owner to act as if this is such a great team, is perfect example of urinating on someone's head (knicks fans) and saying it is rain. I am completely embarrassed. Knicks fans are in serious **** until both these guys get the boot
Agreed with the culture starts at the top statement, but I am not sure we have a fool of a GM. There has to be some sort of proverbial separation of gov't branches here - the owner has to let his GM do his thing by stating his team goals (financial and otherwise) and letting him mold the team. I seem to remember Dolan having too much influence on the whole Houston and Mutombo deal. And then the GM and coach have to agree on whether the team is in a rebuilding phase - and play and develop the young guys - or whether they are playing to win (or whether they are playing to feature the most tradable commodities - Spree).
I just wish these guys could just get on the same page, ala Seattle (who didn't let Payton bully them into a big contract, and have been playing a lot of young guys) or San Antonio (who have the perfect salary cap situation) or the Lakers (who pay their superstars and hand out mere pennies to their role players).
