were playing two teams without their main players gasol and atlanta lost harrington and marvin williams + indiana is a wreck. I expect 3-0 the knicks need 3-0 and the team if IT IS ANY GOOD! will be 3-0 or 2-1 AT WORST! anything less--come back to this post late in the year when we have 31 wins or less

I agree briggs. I think at worst this team should be 2-1 after 3 games.

game 1 vs. memphis - no pau, battier traded, replaced with rookie gay. we should win this and i would consider it dissapointing if we lose.

game 2 vs. atlanta - no marvin but more importantly, no more al harrington. added speedy and shelden. winnable but no guarantee.

game 3 vs. indy @ home - i expect a loss.

I agree that 3-0 is what the Knicks need to do. For one thing they have to beat teams like Memphis and Atlanta. No excuses! Then you can't come home and lose your home opener. We have to set a tone at home and if we win the 1st 2 as we should then we should be confident coming home to get that 1st home win. I'll be EXTREMELY disappointed if we don't go 3-0.

actually, to start this season on the up & up, a complete reversal from last year's failure of 0-5 should be attempted......get em zeke

3-0 means nothing to me. Remember, we had a 6-0 win streak at one point 'explode' in our faces last year and look what we ended up with. I'd be happy to see a 41-41 season first off, or better.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I think you misunderstand. I did not say I expect the Knicks to lose all three, but I do expect them to win the game vs. Indiana.

No one is saying we can't expect more. We're just pointing out that the 1st 3 games are games we should win. The SA game is a different story, but the 1st 3 against two weak teams and then our 1st home game, which we should always look to win, are must win games to start the year off right. I'm actually expecting around 45 wins this year, so my expectations are a bit higher.

No. It's not necessary, but it's fun... Anyway, you've made it official -- you only expect the Knicks to win one game this year. That's the home opener vs. Indiana. 1-81 is a very pessimistic prediction. Hater.

To say we should definitely beat Memphis on the road (no excuses) is a bit unfair. I don't care if they have Gasol or not, winning on the oad in this league aint easy. Memphis had a remarkable season last yr and they are more than just Gasol. Stoudamire is back, Miller is good and the Czar is an excellent defensive coach. Its a winnable game, but I aint saying they better win itor else....

I wouldn't say that any 3 games of the year would be crucial. But the first 20 games of the season will tell us a lot about this team.

Nah, they've got to win. There's so much riding on this season and these guys need to get off to as good a start as they can to get that confidence up and hopefully propel them thru the rest of the season. It's not that I don't respect what Memphis is about and what they've done in the past, but we have to win a game like this. Gasol is a HUGE part of who they are. They don't really have anyone else on that level. They can try to grind it out all they want, but we're the better team and we should win this game. We go 2 deep at every position. They're gonna have to double Curry and that should open up everything else we do. I don't care that it's a road game, we need to win this game.

I agree with this. I was thinking the same earlier today. I could see us losing to Atlanta, but it is imperative that we beat a better team (Indy) at home. We've lost our last FOUR consecutive home openers - some of them by blowout. It is imperative we take some pride at home and give the fans the effort they deserve and pay for. IMPERATIVE!
