Not to nitpick, but I wonder if Isiah was a bit hasty ion signing Cato, now that Williams and Taft have been cut.

I was watcinh a Sacto pre-season game last week, and the announcers were making it sound like Williams will probably be cut because the kid Ronnie Price was playing so well. Justin Williams was a guy I was looking at for the Knicks to draft instead of Mardy Collins. Williams led the nation in shot-blocks last yr at Wyoming. If Isiah would have waited, he probably could have signed Williams for cheap.

As far as Taft is concerend, I haven't been following the Warriors to know whats going on with him. I know he got off to a deceant start last yr, but when he injured himself and Diogu came back, Taft wasn't heard from much again. Either Taft is still injured or has regressed, but he was a good prospect comming out of Pitt (eventhough he came out a yr too early).

interesting about Taft, I remember a TON of people who were screaming his name when the Knicks drafted Lee.

I made this post in the thread that someone started yesterday about Taft when the news broke.

I was VERY vocal on my liking of Taft in the draft 2 years ago, I really wanted Isiah to draft him. The guy has all the skills to become a Chris Bosh type of player, obviously he's not as talented but he could be a poor mans Bosh. Taft had an excellent freshman in college and an excellent first half to his sophomore year but then he struggled and then he entered the NBA. He played pretty well last year in his limited time and I still think he just needs someone to tap his talent pool. I'd MUCH rather have him than Kelvin Cato.

GET CHRIS TAFT.

now that I think about it... wasn't he supposed to be a top 5 draft pick? WOW.

Yeah he was definately a projected Top10 pick. I think scouts were turned off by his attitude which is pretty aloof. Isiah can get the best out of young players so I'd be really interested to see what he could do with Taft.

Wow. Damn. I think Cato will help with some toughness, but you guys know I've been screaming about Justin Williams ever since the draft was over. EXACTLY, AND I MEAN EXACTLY, what we needed all along. I know the competition was a bit watered down in college for him last year compared to other programs but the numbers don't lie man: 11 pts-11 reb/game and over 5 blocks/game for Wyoming. A young wirey body, active, a jumping jack rebounder and a willing defender. Tremendous shotblocker, even coming from the weak side. A guy who was used to doing the little things for his team. Now I saw him in one of Sac's last preseason games against Seattle and I thought he was gonna get cut after that game. And sure enough... He kinda looked lost out there playing against Fortson, Petro etc. but this is a guy who definately could turn into a Keon Clark/Steven Hunter-type and with a few more pounds added to the frame and more experience maybe more than that. By looking over the box scores it didn't look like Mussleman was giving him a lot of mins. in the pre-season. He'll catch on somewhere. I just wish to God it was here...

We got 2 bigs in Curry and Frye who, for all the good things they do offensively, don't defend the tin for ****. Williams would have been the perfect complement to our current bigs. He was worth taking a chance on after the draft was over. Isiah should have ran to his agent after the draft wrapped up and we should've inked him up for the summer league. He looked good in the summer league against us in the game I saw against Sacremento. Cato will help but this kid could've given us much more.
