I feel like the knicks mainly take jumpers. And when the jump shots are off, which most nights they will be, the knicks will lose. There is such limited post play on the knicks, it's almost pathetic and teams recognize this and will pick the knicks apart. Where's the post ups or lobs into the big man? Larry was right. Why is there no feeding of the post?

Everyone on the knicks is in love with their J, but no post play.

What's really bad is when they zone us and pack the paint to neutralize Marbury and force us to shoot our way out.

It's called 'fundamentals' ladies and gentlemen. It is one of the very first things you should be able to do as a basketball player. Shoot the ball! If you can't and are forced to live off of the dunk, you can kiss your season goodbye! As a matter of fact, some of the greatest wins, in regular season games and playoffs have been won by the 'jumper'. Look at Crawford for instance. He's now won five games with the last clutch jump shot. I dare any of you to name at least one game were it was won by a slam dunk, a game that was on the line? There may have been a few, I'm sure, but I for one cannot remember one. Not even great dunkers like Dr. J, jordan or Dominique Wilkens have won a game with a dunk, none I can remember at least. Nope' it's always been the jumper or a post and cut play to the basket, as with the Lakers of the 80's who I think were the greatest I ever seen do that. The dunk is nothing but show, it really has no true meaning in the game, except showing off.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Oh' and please don't use Shaq as an example. He's been nothing but a bully, who's been allowed to knock people out of the middle to slam away! Not exactly a graceful slam!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Wow, so you're saying it's more likely to end a game with a jumper than a dunk? There's what... maybe 4-6 dunks a game between both teams and well over 120 jumpers a game between both teams? That result isn't really that surprising, is it?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

No, what I'm really saying is that the dunk isn't that significant like this thread started out to make it out to be.

This was just a side note example of why it isn't that important.

how many blown dunks are we going to see from Curry before we tell them to shoot it off the glass?

It's called coaching.

There is a reason they call duncan the big fundamental.
all kool aid all the time.

could be that they're working on getting the ball in the hoop w/o dunking... preseason is the time to do it... once the season starts, u'r gonna see Curry dunking on people like he always does, & Balkman, Frye, Lee, Francis & Nate are gonna do their thing also.

This is the dunkingest team we have had in a long time. At least since we had Gerald Wilkins and Johnny Newman and Walker with Ewing still able to cram it on everybody. I am drawing a blank on the PF. Was it Sidney Green?

Anyone remember that dunk Camby had on Mutombo? If the basket had been at the top of the box, Camby still would have flushed it easily.

you have never watched Shaq closely. His passing is first rate. Same with footwork and body position.

That is true Martin, but it is also true that Shaq gets away with about 5 offensive fouls a game that no one else gets.

yeah they do... but i do think i know what the original poster is talking about cuz i've seen Curry, Nate & some other guys scoring in other ways during these pre-season games... when the season starts i think they're going to turn it up a notch & try to throw the ball down everytime they get in the lane.

That's not as true as it used to be though, that's why Riley kept telling him he's got to adjust to the officiating and why Shaq kept talking about playing his finesse game. Now they let Wade do it...

after watching the knicks play for 17 years, the best dunking team we had was the 99 one. they did not have a ton of dunkers but the dunkers they had threw down FUROSIOUSLY. camby, ewing ( tough not as much since 95), sprewell and even houston used to dunk. though this year will give them conpetition with curry, lee, balkman, frye, robinson and even francis. q-rich used to be a good dunker before his back acted up.

it's true. But there is a VAST difference between what he does and what Eddie does.
