I really think that this move could set the franchise up for the long term, and would work relatively well for both teams, because we get rid of Francis and they get a PG and a PF and still maintain some talent

Hawks
Francis
JJ
Marvin Williams
Sheldon Williams
Channing Frye

Knicks

Marbury/Nate
Crawford/Balkman
Jefferies/Childress
Smith/Lee
Curry

I think in the long term in two years when the contracts expire we have a unreal young core, the Hawks get some added interest, we can maybe even send money, and don't lose all that much in producition and become a much better defensive unit

Outgoing
Josh Smith
6-9 SF from Oak Hill Academy (HS)
11.3 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.4 apg in 32.0 minutes
Josh Childress
6-8 SF from Stanford
10.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.8 apg in 30.4 minutes
Tyronn Lue
6-0 PG from Nebraska
11.0 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 3.1 apg in 24.2 minutes
Zaza Pachulia
6-11 C from Georgia (Foreign)
11.7 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 31.4 minutes
Incoming
Channing Frye
6-11 C from Arizona
12.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 0.8 apg in 24.2 minutes
Steve Francis
6-3 PG from Maryland
14.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 4.9 apg in 34.2 minutes
Change in team outlook: -17.3 ppg, -11.4 rpg, and -3.2 apg.

Josh Smith fits the needs of this team right now more so than Frye does. Smith is a tremendous shot-blocker, good rebounder, runs the floor like a deer, and has a developing jumper. He's also a better defender out on the perimeter.

I'd trade Frye for Smith straight up.

No way Isiah trades Smith for Frye b/c it's too smart.

sure, trade one of the best young offensive bigs in the game and one of our only shooters for a player who replicates what we have in Jefferies and Balkman. it's brilliant.

Smith is the better player than Frye he can play all three frontcourt positions, a little weak at the center spot but so is frye, his shot is improving he is quick, and is a better shotblocker than frye ever will be. He will be a better rebounder as well because of his jumping ability.

The kid has played limited organized ball and has shown vast improvement and will be one of the most dynamic forces in the game... Smith is going to be a PF in this league and would be great with Balkman and Lee. You can't have enough defenders and finishers

And compiling assets is different from compiling assets with bad contracts. Childress is a defender who can score. Everyone is so short sighted, we didn't draft Marcus Willimas because we had a pg? We still don't have someone who can dish the rock and the kid looks like the real deal.

This is a deal that would clear cap room and give the team the added benefit of more young talent that we can mold, and young defensive talent which is at a premium

Comparison we the trade should be done, one you get rid of Francis, I would throw cash in the deal if i had to. Isiah doesn't know how to build a team and his players are quitters, however with Frye he is a good kid that will get better, I just don't see the All-Star potential if we are commiting to him at the PF spot which isn't his natural position.

Josh Smith Age 20 years old 6'9 225
11.3pts 6.6rbs 2.60 blocks a game

Frye Age 23 6'11 248
12.3pts 5.8rbs 0.7blcks (47%fg which is great)

Josh Childres Age 23 years old 6'8 210
10pts 5.2rbs 1.6stls (552fg% 49p%3pt)

Just for arguments sake for all you sort sighted fans
Eddy Curry 13.6pts 6rbs 0.8bks

Curry can't rebound or block shots, and the league doesn't have that many dominant big man anymore and is moving toward a more uptempo game, which would work in our favor if this trade went through.

Young Core for the future: Childress, Smith, Nate, Lee, Balkman, you want to throw Crawford and Jefferies in there you are building a lockdown defensive team with energy and rebounding which is what wins in this league; Marbury expires

Crawford/Collins
Jefferies/Nate
Childress/Balkman
Smith/Lee
Curry

Thats not a bad team, you need to make yourself attractive for free agents as well

We're usually on the same page, but I have to disagree with you here. Smith is a far better all around player than Jeff and Balk. Far superior offensive skills then either and a much better shot blocker and more athletic.

I think Smith is more fluid than Balk, Jeff, and Frye and is more graceful this guy would be a monster if they actually had a pg......shortsighted as usual

we don't have the roster spots to make a 4 for 2 deal, so that nixes that... & trading for players & waiving them isn't really a realistic option.

the Frye for Smith trade makes a ton of sense for the Knicks... bring in a shotblocker like him & you can make due w/having 2 weak defending perimeter G's like Francis & Marbs.

it depends if ATL values Frye's offensive skills more than Smith's intangibles however... & yes, i think Smith could play the PF w/his athletic ability... he's not that undersized at 6'9" / 225... hell, we had Camby playing C for us at about the same weight & we made it to the Finals.

C - Curry / Cato
PF - Smith / Lee
SF - Jefferies / Q Rich / Balkman
SG - Francis / Crawford
PG - Marbury / Nate / Collins
IA - Malik / Jalen / Big Turdaroid
