I see the potential in Swift. He is reminding me of a younger Jermaine O'neal. Tons of athleticism, no outside game yet, excellent shot blocker. Remember when Indiana took a lot of heat for giving up their all star big man (Dale Davis) for O'neal. Now who's smiling.
So, I say we take a chance. We aren't going to win anyway. I say Kurt Thomas for Stromile Swift. More players can be added for salary matching, but this is the main deal.
Here is a salary matcher

NY Trades:
Kurt Thomas
Shandon Anderson
Lavar Postell
Frank Williams
2002 2nd round pick (from Denver)

Memphis trades:
Wesley Person
Stromile Swift
Shane Battier

Memphis gets the toughness that Hubie has been clamoring for. They also get a tough defender in Anderson. Postell is a scorer off the bench and Frank Williams will be an excellent backup for Jay Will in the future.
Jay Will, B. Knight, F. Will
Gordon Giricek, Dickerson, Postell
Gooden, Anderson
Thomas, Wright
Gasol, Trybanski
This is a good team that can finally win a game.

For New York, they take a gamble based on youth and athleticism. The rebuilding starts but our playoff chances are still good when Dice comes back. Swift can play backup center and pf (like Keon Clark). Person is cap space after next year. Losing F. Williams does not hurt us at the pg in the future because we get Milos Vujanic next year. This also gives the Knicks quality players on the bench now.
Ward, Eisley
Houston, Battier, Person
Sprewell, Nailon
Swift, Weatherspoon, Harrington
Doleac, Knight

I don't think it's a bad proposal for my first post in this site. What do you think?

J West would never go for this.

A) Why would he trade for frank williams when he already has $45+ million tied up in knight and jwill??? Who does West look like??? Scott Layden???

B) He acquired person because his contract expires shortly... why would he screw himself over by trading for shandon anderson?

C) West is going to hold out until the last moment with swift, hoping that he can get mike miller

I agree with your idea to try to get a young explosive post player who hasnt played up to his potential. THis is how many teams were build: portland (wallace), sactown (cwebb), Lakers (Shaq, although shaq was great in orlando, he was no where near as good as he is now), indiana (as you alreayd stated with jermaine), and others

Yeah...I think we might have to take JWill off their hands in this case...So how about just Stro & JWill for:

??

KT & Charlie? dunno...

I hope that Knicks and The Grizz dont hook up on the phone with each other talking deals. Given the Don Knotts capability of Layden, and the brilliance of West, Layden is likely to send over the Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building, Spreewell, and KT, for Big Country Bryant Reeves, Ike Austin, and a pair of old Elvis socks.
