Larry's gone! Hatin' on Stephon Marbury is
no longer in season. Got a new shoe line, too.
Feel free to celebrate by bringing back the
high pick-and-roll, Isiah.

Greg Anthony: No question, the Knicks are loaded with talent, but Isiah Thomas has his work cut out for him because the team lacks leadership and chemistry. Expect more tinkering with the roster as the season progresses.
DIVISION RANK: 4 | CONFERENCE RANK: 12

Chris Broussard: Eddy Curry, Channing Frye and Jamal Crawford will shine fairly bright. Stephon Marbury's game will change and his numbers will drop, and he'll play within himself as he realizes he's getting older. There will be a large drop in turmoil, and the Knicks will be fun to watch.
DIVISION RANK: 2 | CONFERENCE RANK: 9

Ric Bucher: Isiah Thomas is Houdini when in bleak situations, disappearing and then re-emerging in a situation even sweeter than the one he had. With the Knicks being unsalvageable and his exit inevitable, I can't wait to see where he pops up next.
DIVISION RANK: 5 | CONFERENCE RANK: 14

Chad Ford: They won't be as bad as last season's pitiful crew. The team has more talent than it showed, and Isiah Thomas will find a way to get it out of them. Still, expecting any more than 35 wins from this club seems like a stretch.
DIVISION RANK: 4 | CONFERENCE RANK: 12

John Hollinger: Isiah's last stand should see the Knicks hang on the fringes of playoff contention, as their misshapen roster is nonetheless too talented to avoid winning 35 games or so. And I won't be shocked if Channing Frye blows up this year.
DIVISION RANK: 3 | CONFERENCE RANK: 12

Scoop Jackson: Only one thing matters: Are Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis and Jamal Crawford the remix of Isiah, Joe Dumars and Vinnie Johnson? Most say no. I think maybe. But even if they make the playoffs, this is Zeke's last year in basketball.
DIVISION RANK: 4 | CONFERENCE RANK: 14

Tim Legler: They have a number of "talented" guards (Marbury, Crawford, Francis) but they lack leadership and a winning mentality. If Larry Brown couldn't coach this group, why would anyone believe Isiah Thomas can?
DIVISION RANK: 5 | CONFERENCE RANK: 13

Jim O'Brien: Chemistry will be greatly improved, scoring will not be a problem and they'll win at least 10 games more. But their weak defense (25th in field-goal defense) will again kill hopes of the playoffs.
DIVISION RANK: 4 | CONFERENCE RANK: 12

Chris Sheridan: The future of this team is the frontcourt pairing of Channing Frye and David Lee, not the backcourt duo of Francis and Marbury. A lack of defensive effort will be their downfall and will cost Isiah Thomas his job.
DIVISION RANK: 3 | CONFERENCE RANK: 12

Marc Stein: I don't doubt that coach Thomas, Marbury and Francis, with their reputations all at stake, can make a run at .500, like many pundits expect. But I can't call them playoff material with at least nine East teams I like better.
DIVISION RANK: 4 | CONFERENCE RANK: 12

Average ranks DIVISION: 3.8 | CONFERENCE: 12.2

This is pretty fair and what you'd expect after last year. I think that the media are underestimating Isiah and the Roster tho. This team when healthy has the size, speed and depth to be a handful for most teams to stop. I think Isiah can get these guys to come together as a Unit. So far from what we've seen this team has for the most part been FAR more TEAM oriented than a lot of people thought they could be. Assists and points are spread nicely across the whole team. We may not be a good defensive team but we should be good enough to get wins.

We have to hold on until Jeffries can get back. Also our BENCH is gonna be a HUGE plus for us this year. Our level of play actually gets a bit better when the bench comes in and that doesn't happen on most teams. We actually get faster and more aggressive off the bench. I really think this team is gonna surprise a lot of people. We have our weaknesses, but I think we can do enough things to make it to the playoffs.

Good thing he does not post on this board. I wrote the same thing and faced an onslaught of sneering!

I Like Chris Broussard's report. I agree with the division rank. The Knicks are the second best team in the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia even with AI is not better than the Knicks. Toronto is not better with the knicks even tho I like Ford and Peterson in the backcourt but their number one pick is not gonna start and they should have never let go of villanueva. The Celtics are too young. It should be the Nets and Knicks for the top two spots in the atlantic. I think the Knicks can battle Washington, Orlando and Milwaukee for the 7th and 8th seeds. Atlanta, Philly, Boston, Toronto, and Charlotte should not be in playoff contention.

The Nets won't be challenged by anyone in the Atlantic. The Celtics are a notch above us and Toronto. The Knicks and the Raptors compete for 3rd and 4th. The Sixers sit on the bottom.

I dont think the Celtics are better. They are too dependant on Pierce being healthy. I think Balkman will be the wing defensive player we have wanted for the last few years. Head to head play, I think with Jeffries back, Pierce would have a tough time scoring on us. I think we have a decent team here.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

this is the truth until the season starts. Sad but true.

There is only one way to dispell this critique is to just go out and win the games.

Let it begin.

Like last year, both larry and Isiah are not setting the table for a good start. Thats logical. Tix sales are really off in the garden.

I thought Dolan got Isiah to boost tix sales when the garden was dead. Larry despite his methoed did give the ray of hope that the bashing and hard ass tactics would one day payoff did keep the seats full.
