I disagree a little with ESPN about Kurt. He deserves respect for playing so far out of position, no doubt, but his effectiveness I question. He's not playing "center" when he scores, he's playing forward, because no one else is under the basket, except maybe Spoon. Spoon's the one who has to play center while Kurt gets his points, because Kurt shoots the short jumper, away from the net.
PPG is not the most important stat for a center, and it's misleading of espn to use that to say Kurt is a good center. The Knicks are outrebounded almost every game. They don't block many shots, either. That's the center's job, rebounding, blocking shots, put-backs and keeping the other team out of the lane. Kurt is not so great at that, because he's out-muscled and too short, which is why he fouls out.
Remember how Shaq ate Todd Macullough for lunch in the Finals? Well, Todd ate Kurt for lunch last week. Kurt is a mediocre center, which is good for a 6'9" guy, but not good for the team. Move him to the 4, start Doleac, then find a young 7-footer with quick feet to back him up. Indiana has the right idea, putting O'Neal and Miller on the floor at the same time. Just try to drive the lane if they're standing there.
