Get him to NY, get him to NY, get him to NY, get him to NY, get him to NY......

Did anyone really think he had a fair chance to beat out Marcus WIlliams for the back-up spot? Non-garaunteed contract vs Garaunteed contract?

Get him to NY, get him to NY.....

Maybe in another year of working out and strength conditioning, Jay might be ready to take on a backup role for an NBA team, but for right now, he is marginal at best as a PG. I think he will have trouble defending and going by NBA-caliber PGs. When we played them, he had alot of trouble getting around Nate.

Franbury and Nateford

I know but to me the 15th man spot is nothing more than a young project you can get on the cheap or a vet that you want to serve as an influence. We have alot of youth at the 4/5 spot in Lee, Curry, Frye who, in all honesty are going to eat up alot of time at those positions. Plus Isiah will try and justify the Jerome and Jared signings. No we don't have alot of shotblocking at the position of the 4/5

I think JWilliams can be alot like an older Mark Jackson-at his young age. No he doesn't have that great athleticism he had, but this team has always had PG's with below average atleticism (Ward, Harper, Rivers after the injuries, Jax) and did decent.

And I also believe we have 4 SG's who can play PG in Franbury Nateford rather than a PG who can play like a PG. NUmbers I can see Jay putting up-
12 pts, 7 assists, a couple boards (3ish) some decent D, and a very smoothly run offense whether in transition or in the half court.

Getting around Nate is not easy.

He was a long shot to make it but he got minutes and is getting evaluated. Maybe he can still make it back, good kid, hope he does.

I thought JW looked awful from what I saw of him. Dont think there is a spot for him while I wish him well.

how did he look awful? Was it his speed? decision making?

Didn't see him myself and am curious.

His lateral quickness is what he really lacks. He can move up and down the court fairly well, but he does not have the same quickness laterally. This hurts him on offense (in his ability to get around people) and on defense. His shot, from what people have been saying, is improved from his rookie year, and he plays at a high basketball IQ, he just does not have the physical gifts that made him special. The games I watched him, he looked like a 35 yo PG as opposed to a 25 yo PG. If he can improve his quickness just a little, I think he can be a competent backup PG. I doubt he will ever regain enough quickness to be a starter in this league unless it is for a poor team.

It was both actually. His decision will haunt him for the rest of his life. The stupidity of these athletes know no end. Jay Williams, Kevin Winslow and 'Big' Ben. I guess Forrest was right, "Stupid is, as stupid does"

good one, I didn't even think about the decision about getting on a motorcycle.

I have a friend whose wife works in the ER. Because she sees so many motorcycle accidents she has that is something like this line: "If you ride you might as well fill out your donor card now to cut the paperwork that will happen later." Or maybe it was more direct: "If you ride, I'll see you at my job later on at the table." Damn, I can't remember.

i was at that game - he looked like he beefed up to try to compensate for lack of quickness. looked like he had no idea of what he wanted to do/be now. wherever his new game is going to land, he hasn't found it yet.

Mark Jackson had no lateral quickness and he did ok.

court vision and understanding how to run a team are intangibles.

Besides coming back phsyically, he is also the equivelent of a 2nd year player.

Even though we have a plethora of quasi-guards- what is it, like half our team?- I would love to take a shot on someone like him-

Do we have a pure PG on this squad? And by pure, I am thinking of a Mark Jackson/Charlie Ward/Steve Nash type of player that is interested in setting up the offense and running the team, as opposed to driving to the basket and passing off if its not possible to score onself?

I hope Isiah will take a chance on this kid & sign him... couldn't hurt having a PG w/his upside potential on the roster, even if he has to spend most of the year out of the rotation... would be nice to have a PG who actually plays the game like a PG & not like a SG in a PG's body.

hopefully Steve Francis or Marbury can be traded after this season & clear up some playing time for the younger G's to show what they got.

Unfortunately, Isiah doesn't have enough time to wait...he's history if he doesn't get it done this year. With James' history he's more likely looking for frontcourt help.

i'd rather buy Big Turd out of his contract & sign a CBA guy on a 10 day contract while giving Jay Will a spot on the roster to tell u the truth... Big Turd is just a waste of space that will never contribute anything significant to this team... mine as well let him go cuz we ain't getting back anything for him in a trade & he's never going to be a productive player for this franchise.
