New York Post - A high-level source 'swears' LeBron James will opt out of his contract following the 2011-2012 season in order to become a member of the Knicks.

This according to Peter Vecsey of the New York Post, in an article about a feud between Isiah Thomas and Greg Anthony.

Many analysts and columnists have conjectured that signings by Thomas of players such as Vin Baker and the selections of Rendaldo Balkman and Mardy Collins, all clients of James' agent at the time, are attempts to win favor with the said agent. Both Anthony and Vecsey have speculated on this possibility.

I usually don't get too into this kinda stuff, especially when 2012 is 6 years away, I mean honestly, how could anyone know he will DEFINITELY opt out in 2012 to join the Knicks?

Still cool none the less.

well in 6 years, lebron should be getting 2 or 3 microfractures on his knees so yeah, that sounds about right.

Same thing I was thinking. Who knows what kind of condiiton this guy will be in 6 years from now?

6 years ago, who thought T-Mac would be in the condition he is in now?

We got to be collecting these expiring contracts NOW to get in the right position to get Lebron!

Isiah is the key to this and we need to extend his contract NOW for 8 years!

We can do a massive sign and trade with cleveland to get him!

THis is great, its all a part of the plan. I read this in the "Divinchi Code". Its all true you know!

ALso the New Madison Sq Garden will be build by then!

Starphuching into the future! What great concept!

If Lebron is so keen on joining the Knicks he can do so when his 3yr extension is over. That is several years earlier than Vecsey's prediction. It just seems stupid to say he will opt out of a contract he is not even in yet. The guy is trying to get his name on a headline with a stupid statement like that.

yeah, I mean, who cares? If Lebron wins a championship or two before then, his plans might change.

Lebron sad that he wants to be a Billioner
So it is logical to go to NY for regular 350 Mil 10 years contract and get 650 mils of endorsments from Nike and others...
If he is serious about billions so this is the only way he can make it.

These are the kinds of things I been saying about Lebron re-signing with Cleve. I thought that was a dumb move to sign for so long with one team. I'm afraid by the time we get a shot at him, he'll start having problems and if he were to start winning championships with Cleve, then why would he start over and come to us anyway. Prior to his signing that dumb contract, 'now' whould have been the right time to make the move. I just don't get dumb Lebron! He is dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb! I don't want him in New York. These players are just stupid for not coming to New York were they can have everything! Are management has been equally stupid for signing all of those rediculous contracts, that tied us up for so many years now. When you think about the timing of all of this, it really, really doesn't make any sense. It's like a damn bad habit! In other words, 'lets play for someone else and when I'm older and breaking down, I'll go to the Knicks'! Dumb!!! Dumb!!! Dumb!!! Lebron can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The 21-year-old agreed to a three-year contract extension worth about $60 million US, which will keep the all-star forward with the Cavaliers through the 2009-10 season.

It includes a player option for a fourth year.

James' extension is for two fewer years than the deal the Cavs offered, a five-year package worth about $80 million US.

By the summer of 2010, James will be a seven-year veteran with the option of seeking a new contract as an unrestricted free agent, making him eligible to negotiate a maximum contract worth 30 per cent of the salary cap.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/story/2006/07/12/nba-cavaliers-james.html

Just to be clear.. the article states:
A high-level source 'swears' LeBron James will opt out of his contract following the 2011-2012 season

His current contract ends 2010.
To speculate he will opt out of some future contract is asinine.
If he is ever coming to the Knicks it would be when his current contract expires...
common sense..
