What were your thoughts? It was so interesting... Isiah talks so professional to the media and then when he was talkin to the players in summer league he was straight up STREET. I mean he was talkin to them like he was one of them, i found it pretty interesting. He seemed to be very encouraging.. Even in his criticism he was encouraging - I liked it

It seemed like good coaching, but it was really a small sample.

Plus, he could have been hamming it up for the cameras. But it was entertaining if nothing else.

Kind of funny, but the first thought I had on Lee's jumper in the first half was he looked really good shooting it.

The part of that where he was running them on a full court fastbreak drill without dribbling the ball. I found that interesting. I was thinking the same thing myself and I hoped he was doing that with these players. I saw it clearly used in the game. It's a beautiful thing to see real basketball from this team.

There was so much doubt that these players could do this, which I didn't fully understand. So many of our players have the natural ability to do just about anything on the courrt, IF the Coach is able to reach them and teach them. Isiah did a good job from what I can see of getting the players to buy in and believe in him. I just want to see this team keep it going and to improve on this new direction.

I liked what I saw from the team tonite. Ball movement, movement without the ball, hustle and camaraderie. Attemps to push the ball up the floor and not one person trying to dominate the ball. This is the Knicks first preseason game, the Nets second. I was expecting the Nets to be that much sharper than the Knicks after the media made a thing about the Knicks cutting camp in SC a day early and LB's being 9 days last year. Obviously there's room for improvement, but to me there's no reason why they won't improve. Man, I'm not trying to nitpick what player looked good or didn't. I just want to the team to be successful. That's all. The only person I want to look good is Isiah. He bought everyone here. It's time for IT to show everyone he knew what he was doing...I'm all for it.

He was annoying. I miss the days of riley an van gundy so it is tough to watch a guy take a totally different approach and one that I am not comfortable with. However, I read where Donnie Walsh said Isiah creates a mentality in the locker room that is us against the world and that in Indiana the guys really bought into that. His nonsense tonight where he was yelling about David Lee's inability to make a jump shot was annoying. I hope he realizes that he is coaching a team with some intelligence. I would guess that some guys would humor, ignore, or be offended by the way he was coaching at practice on mike for MSG.

Stop nitpicking! He was fine. Whatever works.

You have got to love that coaching. IT was exactly what this team needed as far as a coach. Let's go Knicks.

On the one hand you like that he creates an "us against the world" mentality, on the other you object to the way he reminds David Lee of what the world said about him...

He is' one of them. Remember, he is one of the greatest players to ever hit the wood. I never saw a small guard play like he did in his day. That dude could just shoot the lights out, and over big monster like players. He is definately one of them and I'm hoping they respect that. Maybe he should show them his old tapes!
I'll never trust this' team again.

I absolutely love this!!!! Zeke the drill seargent! That wasn't for the media, that was the real Zeke as I remember him! Can you imagine Brown doing that in boot camp? I think we're going to be alright. Very encouraging!

Could you stop?! We finally get something refreshing and you want to keep it negative! Give him a benefit of the doubt, will ya?

That was a good clip, but there's no way in hell he's a drill seargent coach. He yells a lot, but it's more like he's having fun. Drill Seargent coaches are Larry Brown, Grep Popovich and so it seems, Scott Skiles, Jim Calhoun and of course, Bobby Knight. Can you seriously say Isiah coaches similarly then those guys?

BTW, that wasn't a knock on Zeke. It's just not his style to be a "Drill Seargant" coach. It wasn't in Indy and it definitely doesn't seem to be that here. He IS ultra competitive, he DOES know a ton about bball, and way early on, he does seem to have the players responding well to him. So we'll see how it goes throughout the season. I think he'll be fine as coach. I just don't want him having the GM responsibilities.

He didn't say David Lee couldn't make a J. He said that everyone else said he couldn't make one and he worked hard last Summer to work on that. I'm sure Isiah is quite pleased with his sophomores.

It's funny to me that the team comes out and does EXACTLY what we want them to do and there's a complaint about the way Isiah coaches. This guy can't get any respect with some people. That team looked so much different than any Knick team i've seen in the last 25 years. You'd have to go back to the Clyde teams to find the team sharing the ball that much and moving that well (and no i'm not saying this team is that good). I just hope they continue to improve and jell.

We may just have a team to really get behind again. Don't Lee and Balkman just give you goose bumps? These are 2 guys that Isiah took some flak for drafting. Lee they said he should've taken a chance on a high potential guy with that pick and Balkman we all know they wanted us to take Williams and get Balkman later. No matter how he got them I love the way they play and with Williams, he's a very big talent, but I don't think we needed him, so i'm glad we got Balkman. Remember that in Isiah's system you don't really rely on great PG play. Its a team passing game and really doesn't focus on a traditional PG for plays to be executed.

You know, now that you mention it, I never saw how the others coach, so I have nothing to compare. I still liked what I saw though and yes, I too think GM-Coach is a bit too much. He is definately strong as a GM looking for young talent, but if it gets in the way, then maybe he'll have to think about giving it up. But then again, if Zeke picks, then he picks to know what he can mold, couldn't he? We'll see what happens.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I think that we on the board have become so accustomed to bad mouthing whatever the KNicks do it hard for some to change their ways about the Knicks. That I think is also a work in progress just like the Knicks are. That will eventually fade as the wins mount in the course of the season. But if losing isn't resolved then the tone will be the same as it has been since the losing trend started.

I remember the board when most everyone thought the Knicks could do no wrong. The Knicks were a team worth bragging about, we need these days back again. Lets hope the team is going in the right direction, because Isiah seems to close to helping the Knicks players turn the corner on the losing. Lets hope that he can make it a reality for us all.

Under 'normal' circumstances, this is a very good basketball team and would have been last year, if for not the unfortunate events that took place. But I'm willing to move on with that stuff already. LOL!
