I am sorry but this just made my morning! Someone was getting on posters about Zeke saying he was pleased with Curry's play in an NYT article and now his biggest gem.

"It's crazy enough that it just might work!"

So heres what has to happen in Curry needs to somehow play his way into great shape rebound and block shots (he should be averaging 17pts and 8rbs 1blk)

Frye with extra time should put up 15pts 6rbs 1-2blks

James somehow recovers from injury to score 4pts and grab 6rbs and 1blk

Lee with his work over the summer can average 6pts and 7rbs 2ass off the bench

Jefferies needs to score 8pts grab 8rbs and block a shot......

Steph, Steve and Jamaal don't go out and party every night of the week and dedicate themselves to all going full throttle for 30+ minutes a game and play defense and we get a combine (40pts 18asss 12rbs and 4steals a game)

Q and Nate get after it defensive and make their open jump shots each player in the realm of 15minutes a game, combining for 16pts 6rbs and 2steal

Is it crazy enough that it just might work if everyone puts their egoes aside and sacrifices for the good of the team......

So in review

Nate, Q (16pts 6rbs 4ass and 2stl)
Jeff (8pts 7 rbs)
Francis, Marb, Craw (40pts 18asss 12rbs and 4steals a game)
Curry (17pts and 7rbs 1blk)
Frye (15pts 6rbs 1-2blks)
James (4pts 6rbs 1blk)
Lee (6pts 7rbs 2ass)

Phoniex East Stats
106 pts 51rbs 24ass 6 stls 4blk

Those numbers should be happening and aren't that far out of reach if these guys are serious about winning which they are not, with those numbers the team should finish with at least 45 wins

TITLE ON ISIAH'S MIND

By DAN MARTIN
ISIAH THOMAS
'Preparing to win the race.'October 13, 2006 -- Apparently now that Larry Brown is gone, anything is possible, at least according to the Knicks.

As the team heads into its first preseason game tonight against the Nets at the Garden, new coach Isiah Thomas said that nothing is out of reach for his team.

"I want to win all the time," Thomas said after the team practiced yesterday. "There's a championship out there to be had. No one has been crowned champion yet and until I'm out of the race, I'm preparing to win the race."

Thomas, who won a pair of titles as a player with the Pistons, knows all too well the trouble this franchise had prior to his arrival and since. But that doesn't mean he isn't still confident.

"I'm not afraid to ask for it all and I'm not afraid to want it all," Thomas said.

It was that attitude that helped propel Detroit to the top of the NBA. Unfortunately for the Knicks, they don't have Thomas as a player - or Bill Laimbeer, or Mark Aguirre, or Dennis Rodman.

Still, on the eve of Thomas' preseason debut as head coach, optimism reigned in Greenburgh. The boos that echoed throughout the Garden throughout last year's disaster are nothing but a memory now.

When asked if he thought fans would embrace Thomas and his team, point guard Stephon Marbury, who hasn't missed a chance to blast Brown, said he thought they would.

"One thing about New Yorkers is they give everyone a chance," said Marbury, who compared getting a new coach to getting a new wife. "Everything's different. That happened when we got a new coach."

He doesn't think the fans will be disappointed.

"You guys [wrote about] how he put this team over the cap and all the people he brought here," Marbury said. "He gets a chance to show what he's brought to New York."

And even if the Garden faithful aren't happy, Thomas claims he will be ready.

"I'm used to being in arenas, I'm used to being in environments where you've got to have thick skin," Thomas said. "While I'm not challenging anyone, I'm definitely not running from anyone. I'm not asking for a fight. I'm not looking for a fight, but at the same time, if a fight comes, I've got to fight."

If this season turns out anything like a year ago, Thomas will be able to test out his theory.

For all his confidence, Thomas did add a dose of reality.

"I do expect us to become a good basketball team," Thomas said. "We will be a good basketball team. I don't know if it will be in November or December, but the goal is to be playing our best at the end. We'll play 82 games and hopefully some playoff games."

That in itself would be a vast improvement from the 23-win fiasco when, as Thomas said yesterday, "Everything went wrong."

Thomas wants to make the Knicks forget about last year, starting tonight.

*

The Knicks play the Sixers tomorrow in Philadelphia, where Brown is now living. He is not expected to attend the game. Thomas said that he would be "pleasantly surprised" if either Malik Rose or Jerome James is able to play this weekend.

I don't know about others fans, but to me stephon marbury isnt even a knick. Like Isiah Thomas , he's just some big name dude brought in here, but he's been a farce the entire time. Hes not a pimple on John Starks arse to 99% of fans.

I was thinking the same exact thing Briggs. Marbury is not a Knick and will never be a Knick.

I'm starting to hate Starbury as much as I do Isiah.

Marbury is not a Knick and will never be a Knick.

careful careful now.......... A few good seasons and will you still
feel that way? I'm about as fed up with Marbury as the rest of you, but i cant recall being as excited about a player joining the knicks as i was when marbury was traded here. He was my fav player at Georga tech i always wanted to see him do well... If he can change his additude and win some games he will be a BIG TIME knick in my mind... He just has his work cut out for him and a long way to go

Thats a huge IF man. Marbury is closing in on 30 and has showed no signs of changing his engomanical ways yet. The guy has a ton of talent but he's turned MSG into a 3-Ring circus since the day he put on a Knick uniform. I'm sick of the act and I'm sick of the circus.

I don't think anyone will be singing a different tune

Since the guy has been here he has alienated the media, the players and the overal reaction around the city and of the fans is just disgraceful. An empty garden with no passion.

I sit next to a guy during the season and when i asked him last year why he didn't bring someone with him and he responded by saying i can't give these tickets away, and if i ask a client they respond, do you really value our business.....

Which is disgraceful, hopefully we can get a little excitement going i hate the fact that this bitch ass ghetto punk has spiraled this team into obsecurity as evidence by O national televised games.....He better not say one ****ing thing to the media this season, suck it up and produce.....

I get sick to my stomach thinking about Zeke saying "No, hell no, don't answer that he makes 10 million more than you" when referring to AROD these *******s don't get New York and they don't grasp the cities spirit......

Steph will never be a Knick, never, i don't want to see him sulking or calling anyone out, to me its quite clear that he is a loser just by the fact that he keeps talking about brown and made the comments about francis, get over yourself and win

Great in 93 and 94. Decent/slightly good in about 4 or 5 other seasons. I loved him in those 2 very good years, but I think fans treat him like he had an outstanding career rather than being closer to a one hit wonder.

you have to look beyond the stats with starks, 98 playoffs, that game winning 3 against phoenix, great D & effort everything night..maybe a little too much for his own good at times. still I'll take him on my team anyday and he is certainly up their in the list of Knick greats

Seriously... Starks was everything the Knicks of recent history aren't... huge hustle player, amazing heart, tenacious defense, high energy, a player that brought it every night. In addition to that he always averaged 12 ppg or higher, a handful of assists and a steal.

I wasn't questionning him. Briefly, he was outstanding. You can't mention him with guys who were outstanding for a dozen years like Oakley though IMO. What's wrong with valuing a long outstanding career much more than a couple of great years?
