HOT! DaleandThomasPopcorn - FREE Popcorn with $2.95 Shipping
Posted on Friday October 13th, 2006 by Lights in the Food / Kitchen category
I didn't know this, but October is National Popcorn Month and so they're giving away their famous popcorn for FREE. My guess is that you'll like it so much, you'll be forced to buy 2 tons of their popcorn in the next couple of months and will eat no other popcorn besides theirs. Whatever the case, it's free... just pay the $2.95 shipping & handling and you get your choice of a 4 cup bag or two for free. I'm not sure if they've got a limit so get in with yours before they pull it. FREE POPCORN

I just ordered some. Pretty cool deal.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

There's a Dale and Thomas popcorn store in my town. Many a time last year where I felt like walking in and randomly shouting "Quit the Knicks!"

I wouldn't eat that if it were the last popcorn on earth.

I gotta say that Dale & Thomas popcorn is pretty good. I didn't realize isiah was the Thomas on the bag till I read the bag after guzzling it down.

I recommend the kettle corn. Its very good. I'm dead serious.

Edit: there a small store on Broadway between 79th and 72nd. I don't remember where exactly.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Pffft. You gotta pay for shipping? I really do NOT want to send any money anywhere near Isiah Thomas way.

Btw, this just in: Stephon Marbury is coming out with his own brand of popcorn. If you buy two bags you get one regular bag and a second bag that only has one piece of popcorn in it. The second bag is labeled "all alone 33". However it does claim to be the best piece of popcorn in the bag.

History Lesson: Popcorn and Isiah Thomas
During the Great Depression of the 1930’s, popcorn eating thrived. It was one of the few treats families could afford. Sugar was rationed, so candy was scarce. Because of this, the average American ate more popcorn… three times more popcorn, actually! This was similar circumstances for the Thomas Family.

Because of his childhood memories, Isiah Thomas (The “Thomas” in Dale and Thomas Popcorn) is part owner of the most delicious gourmet popcorn. Growing up in a Chicago ghetto, Isiah Thomas was given all the opportunities his parents could afford to give him. They are hard working people, but the funds weren’t there for them to live the luxurious life. Because of this, a staple food in their diet was popcorn due to its yummy taste and inexpensiveness. I guess you could say that the 6’1”, 185 lbs. former Detroit Piston basketball player was raised on popcorn.

If you are not a follower of basketball, here is a little bit of interesting information of basketball’s greatest small guard, Isiah Thomas. He was named rookie of the year in 1982. He played 13 seasons and was an All-Star Player for 12 seasons. He’s considered one of basketball’s greatest players of all time. Then he hung up his jersey for coach’s garb to lead the Indiana Pacers (Indiana is the United States largest popcorn producing state) for 3 years reaching the playoffs every year.

On December 22, 2003, Thomas was named President of Basketball Operations for the New York Knicks. This is when he was introduced to the world's greatest popcorn. When walking around New York City, he stopped into a quaint popcorn factory located on the Upper West Side. After eating just a handful of the best popcorn he’s ever tasted, a rush of childhood memories followed. With extreme enthusiasm, Isiah Thomas wanted to have a hand in producing the greatest popcorn and to share his love for the crunchy treat with the rest of the nation. The name was changed to Dale and Thomas Popcorn and the rest is history.

"Like they always say, New York is the Mecca of basketball,"I read that in Michael Jordan books my whole life and I played here in the Big East tournament, so it's always fun to play in the Mecca of basketball."---Rip Hamilton
