Did you know that since 1920, New York City has not gone without a championship team, from all four sports, no more than 'six' years? Chicago and L.A. have had long, long spells at times, just to show you how consistent NY has been. But I am a little concerned about this at this time, especially since we are approaching the sixth year. I have noticed that ever since 9/11 went down, the air has been different and often wonder if NYC is still very much suffering from that tramatic event. It seems to show in our sports. I do believe that there is a legitimate fear that something is going to happen again. It may not show on the outside, but it most certainly can lay doorment deep inside. Any of you get the same feeling? I mean, I just don't get that tough, gritty, killer instinct from our sports teams, not like we used to get, win or lose.
I'll never trust this' team again.

dude, the only reason is the Yankees have 26 championships. That averages out to 1 every 6 years. No big deal. If the yankees get through this series, they might take the cup.

That whole 9/11 putting a curse on New York sports is a myth. You are not the first one I heard say that. The air around the sports teams isn't that different from before. Most NY pro athletes aren't even New Yorkers.

You heard it before, yet you won't consider it? Most of our championships were 'never' won by having a totally New Yorker team, ever. I just think it's important to win as soon as possible, to defy that notion I made. The only one to win in the area were the Devils and they are in New Jersey. I look at the Giants and Jets and think, what a bunch of clowns. I look at the Knicks and see another downer so far. I see the Yankees on the brink of elimination, in the first round, after having a magnificant season, the Mets? Who knows what they'll do today and I have a little hope for the Rangers, but no definates. I just thought it was interesting about the consistency of our NY teams as hole. If you noticed, someone said the Yankees got most of it, but looking at the record, when the Yankees were down for years, other teams pulled it together and won. That's consistency.
I'll never trust this' team again.

No because I have heard similar stories i.e: curse of the Bambino, Black Sox curse etc which have been proven wrong. Its a mere coincidence but seems like you dont want to convinced.

Okay, let's take the word 'curse' out of the dialogue. I don't want to go off of the point I was trying to make in the first place. I say this in a nice way. And as I was saying, another team, the Yankees failed once again. The Mets did great, but we'll see what happens. All in all, one of these teams need to win soon.

And while you brought it up, the curse of the Black Sux & The Bambino, I think 84 & 88 years from those teams without a World Series says a lot about curses. I mean for Gods sakes, how long does it take to win one lousy World Series at least once every fifty years? This is off subject, so if you have any thoughts on this, fire away. It's good conversation.
I'll never trust this' team again.
