Is Dolan convinced that REBUILDING is a key?
Loking on the last moves (Mo, JRose talks) are we set to unload the crup if season will go bad?

Really?
They have only 2 contracts going into the nex year.
To compare - Devils have 5 for more that 5 years and a bunch of 2-3 years.
Last year they had only Jagr from veteran\stars
This year they add another 4 veteran players mostly for 1 year contracts.
They collecting the young prospects from all over the world and are playing 10 young players now.
So what is rebuilding?

Maybe our difference of opinion is semantic. Yes, they are developing players and appear to have a plan for the future, but they added more veteran to the roster over the past off season than kids. I would like to see more kids worked in now even if it means winning less games.

The rebulding is already went from the cleaning the roster and getting young prospects to next step.
Settings the goal to win the cup. And young players need real leadersheep in solid veterans.
Rebuilding is not the never ending story (see Atlanta, etc.). It can take 1 year or can take more.
Rangers are due to have 1-2 yeaers of it...

Young players also need playing time in the NHL. Immonen, Dawes, Dubinsky, and Pock are ready.

You can rebuild thru the draft, free agency or trades. The Rangers have rebuilt with a 90% roster turnover since 2004. They have also restocked their farm system. We have several guys that are not quite ready yet but will be in the next 1-3 years. We already have injected a lot of youth from Pruca to lunquist to pock to tyutin, etc etc. Thats only the start. slats has done a great job erbuilding our farm while also rebuilding our Rangers

that was a great start to the season. Jagr is still awesome and Brendan Shanahan was a great signing!

There is no one way to rebuild. You might want to just play the kids exclusively but most fans want wins as well. Half the players you named pock and dawes already have made the team and played tonight. Immonen may never be at the level of the others because of his skating and dubinsky will be a call up at some point

The Rangers can win now. Dawes skated well tonight and he'll earn his keep. The Ranges know they have NHL ready kids in Hartford. I'm sure we'll see more of them. The key kids Henrik, Prucha and Tyutin all looked like big time veterans tonight, and that's a testament to the system.

I think they can win now with a couple more kids, particularly on defense.

I think it is clear that Rangers team turnaround strategy worked to perfection.
I started this thread with the question if the Rangers success will change the Knicks team building direction or already changed? We can see some evidence:
1. MoT out
2. Talks that JRose will expire without trade
3. IT rhetoric about new Knicks future is the priority

the Rangers had a fire sale a couple years ago no? Kovalov, Leetch, etc? Dont really follow hockey much but I remember them doing some massive dumping.

I think its because of the Rangers that Dolan has been patient with Isiah. If you look at what's been happening with the Knicks its not that far off from the Rangers in terms of the Semi Rebuild. Not a 100% rebuild were you have nothing but kids. But you can go 90% kids and give yourself a chance to still win games, while the core of the team is developing young people.

The main difference is contract situation.
Rangers still have only 2 players with contract extended to nex year
NHL is in general better in this respect that NBA but Rangers situation is exceptional even in NHL
The mail advantage is flexibility. If you have vets which you can dump any time this is 100% rebuilding.
Last year Rangers have only Jagr as a players with some commitments from the team. It is not much different this year.

Yes almost atleast a half dozen players (Leetch, Kovy, Devries, Nedved, Barnaby, Simon, off the top of my head) were traded for picks/prospects. We finished the season with a no name lineup and then dumped a couple more players after the lock out.

right... when did/have/will the Knicks ever done that? We trade a veteran player we get two veteran players back with longer contracts.

Its different in the NBA but I agree with you. If it was up to me I would cut every guy over 26 next season

I dont even like LB. I just have more faith in Curry, Frye, Lee, Nate, Jeffries, Jcraw, etc will play unselfishly than the over 26 guys that seem to be more in to themselves. Thats a generalization. There are exceptions
