Wow, that was cool...

Nice to see a glimpse of Ewing talking to Giuliani in the stands! That shirt looked huge on him. Wonder what he's doing in town? A job with the Knicks maybe?

that's cool. I don't think he's going for a job with the Knicks, what with the whole team in SC right now, but glad to see Pat back in NY. I wish we'd hire him as an assistant coach for Eddy and Frye

Rangers suck. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs again.

Win it all?!?

Glad to see you're as ridiculous when it comes to the Rangers as you are with the Knicks.

Nothing ridiculous
Check this:

Rangers also have only 2 !!!! players with contracts for more that 1 year and more that 20 for 50 top young NHL prospects.
It's complete opposite to the Knicks
Knicks are really ridiculous.
But so was Rangers. Another year like last one and will see really new Knicks too.
GO KNICKS!!! GO RANGERS!!! GO NY!!!

Come on, in the East alone Ottawa, New Jersey, Buffalo, Tampa and the defending Cup champs Carolina are better than the Rangers.

I often look at the parallells between the knicks and rangers and the fact that they have the same owner. just a few short year's ago the Rangers were bogged down with high priced stars, a huge salary figure and nothing to show for it. Everyone hated the owner and wanted the GM fired.

Sounds eerily familiar and there is no reason to not expect a similar turn around.

THe strike year was taylor made for the rangers.

Many contracts got to expire and they dumped others.

And,

The NHL has a hard cap.

The other thing is Ranger fans can tolerate a rebuild.

And,

When you starphuch (in the past) you generally get warrior type mentality guys. Pavel Bure was to broken but if you looked at the Redwings teams of 35 year old plus players those guys were animals!

But they are all gone. The NHL messed up for a while with owners using money form the hyper expansion of the 1990's to build teams with free agents. When that money dried up, there were big problems.

NHL is more like the NFL in that with a hard cap you just cannot afford to buy your way into the playoffs like in the past. Parity will be more common. Teams under the "cap" will be able to get players ohter teams cannot afford to pay if they are over.

Sather did a good job in seeing what changes needed to be made and started the youth movment early. Last season they were predicted to be in last place. The Hurricanes were also not favored at all last year.

If the NBA goes on strike until Marbury, Francis and the gang expire, then I'll agree with you.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Down in front
Heard a story today that made me laugh.

Former Knicks center Patrick Ewing attended Game 1 last night, but he didn't end up sitting in the seat that was on his ticket (which was supposed to be behind home plate several rows back). Apparently he was too big for the seat so the Yankees had to make some accomodations for the 7-1 man, who appears to have put on some weight in recent years...

No word on whether he guaranteed a Yankees playoff win.
