The multimillion long-term contracts already converted the NBA from sport league into some kind of gang-like organization focused of making big bucks regardless of the basketball.
I cannot understand why person getting 5+ year’s contract money because of showing some promises or some paid reviews by sold out analysts.
NBA should opt to 1 or max 2 years contract for players and couches.
This will change the intensity and job ethics dramatically.
If somebody is working hard and showed class extend it each year. If somebody wants out - here we go.
Why workers all around USA can be fired without any reason any day but these guys are immune just because they have natural talent to throw it in or happened to be a friend of some big pocket who bought the bball club?
Of course this will push all donks and malcontents out of the league. But what can be better for REAL lovers of the game.

I think the Union is too powerful in the NBA. However, if franchises that are run 'well' start to lose money things might change. The Knicks seem to always seem to be the example for bad long term contracts.

Coaches are usually market value kind of guys and pretty dependable.

Knicks knew what they were getting with Larry. A pain in the ass diva who makes life miserable for the owner until the team starts winning.

In this case, as demosntrated by some weird pattern, Dolan does not care about winning. Thus, the clash was epic. Isiah trying to make his owner happy with a starphuch convinced Dolan to up the money for him.

Larry is a great coach, but an @sshole to boot!

I'd like to see so form of partial guarantee contract in the NBA that gives teams a bit more control. Naturally, if a player over achieves an opt out would be important.
