I wish I could become a Nets fan. It can never happen... I will just stop watching BB all together before I convert but geeze. I hope Jay does great. I'm lived in Plainfield (his home town) for 8+ years. He's a great guy and I'm sure he will bounce back to be a good NBA player.

Rod Thorn would be fired within in a year, have his name dragged throught the mud and end up in a lawsuit with Knicks management at the end of his tenure.
I just hope that people will like me

Rod Thorn is one of the top3 executives in the NBA. If Isiah only had 1% of his basketball acumen.

Rod Thorn is the most overrated GM in the history of this league. He doesnt know how to surround the 4 good players they have with talent. He brings in guys like Marc Jackson, Jeff McInnis(who they are trying to get rid off but cant because of his ridiculous $3.5 million salary which Rod Thorn gave him by the way) and Jacque Vaughn. Tell me one guy he has brought in as a FA who has flourished with that team. ONE.

When he brings in players like that now, I wonder what he will do when Krstic is up for his big contract at the end of the year. If Samuel Dalembert and Tyson Chandler can get $60+ million, Im sure he is going to get atleast that if not more. That team will be stuck in cap hell with Kidd's $20 million , Jefferson's $10+ million, Carter's $15+ million and Krstic with $8-$9 million. They have to go with minimum players just to fill out the roster.

Isiah is bad but lets not make Rod Thorn into this great GM. You want a great GM? Look down to San Antonio not New Jersey.

Agreed. The Knicks Franchise is a class act all the way. Everyone looks up to and admires the owner and management team of the Knicks, and the classsy way they handle personel issues.

no one's saying he's the best GM there ever was... only that he'd be a nice improvement over the one we currently have... has he brought in big FA's that have impacted their franchise? maybe not, but he also hasn't handcuffed their franchise w/garbage contracts for years to come w/most of his signings either... & most importantly, his teams are winning... which is alot more than can be said of any teams Isiah's put together since he's been our GM.

When K-Mart left everyone said Nets were done. They had Kidd and RJ. Since then they have traded for Carter and made playoffs. Over last 2 years Nets have added Krstic,Ilic,Marcus Williams,Nachbar,Jay Williams,Wright,Adams and Boone. They have big 3 and 8 guys under 25 years old. They have nice mix of Vets and young players. Difference with Knicks and Nets is that nets can win and rebuild but knicks can't.

Yeah, it is weird. I could walk to St. Joe's in 10 minutes. I used to use their outdoor facilities (hoops, track, tennis). But those guys came through after I had already left the area.

Wish Jay Williams luck.

Rod Thorn has always been savvy on the big moves and weak on the role players. (We seem to have trouble with both). NJ drafting has been a mixed bag, but they seem to have hit on some good young Euro bigs, and I like their last draft better than ours, even though our picks bookended theirs. Does anyone here trust the Knicks to select the right Euros?

traded Eddie Griffin for RJ and Collins
traded Marbury for Kidd
drafted Krstic w/ the 24th pick
didnt overpay for KMart and got 3 first rounders for him
traded a pair of those and garbage for Vince Carter

after one bad year w/ Marbury has made the playoffs every year after that first he was there. 6 seasons, 5 playoffs, 4 division titles, 2 conference titles and he took over a lottery team who's biggest asset was Starbury.

If you think Thorn isnt a HELL of a GM your a total idiot. My god, if any GM turned the Knicks around the way Thorn turned the Nets around you would be lining up to %$%$ him
