Lets see how good the Advice Dolan got from his Lawyers turns out.

Dolan got buyers remorse.

BROWN SICS LEGAL PIT BULL ON KNICKS
By MARC BERMAN

September 27, 2006 -- When Larry Brown tacked on an extra $12.5 million in damages he's seeking from the Knicks in this coming Friday's hearing, he listed "attorney fees" as part of the reason.

And you can see why. Clearly out for blood, Brown hired one of the country's most powerful law firms, Washington-D.C.-based Williams and Connolly, which represented former President Clinton in his impeachment proceedings.

The firm's top contract litigator, Nick Boyle, has been in Manhattan the past few days preparing for the hearing, to be presided by NBA Commissioner David Stern.

It also could be a sign the sides are trying to reach a contract settlement before Friday.

Brown had $41 million left on his contract that owner James Dolan withheld, feeling Brown broke terms in his pact in guiding the Knicks to a 23-59 record.

It's another distraction for the Knicks, still dealing with the cloud of Brown as president/coach Isiah Thomas tries to prepare for the opening of training camp Monday in Charleston.

In fact, the Knicks are breaking from tradition and won't make Thomas available for comment until Monday's media day. Brown, meanwhile, has moved his family to the Philadelphia area to enroll his kids in their old school. Sixer President Billy King, a close friend of Brown, said through a spokesman he has not spoken to Brown about bringing him aboard.

*

Veteran power forward Maurice Taylor will fly from his home in Houston to New York today but realizes his stay may be very brief. Taylor said he and his reps have discussed a buyout the past two weeks and it could be done before Monday's training camp.

"I'm hoping to get something done quick," Taylor told The Post. "[The Knicks] don't have any plans for me. They thought a buyout would be good for me too. It's 50-50."

Taylor's expiring contract has $9 million left and is expiring, meaning he's a definite trade pawn at the deadline.

"All I want is a fair shake, and my reps have talked to other teams," Taylor said. "I'm not in their future plans."

Nevermind that. Can we the fans sue Larry Brown, the Knicks & Stephon Marbury for "Mental Anguish?" Wasn't witnessing last season "Cruel and unusual punishment"?

I think what's bolded is the truth. Without tacking on the extra fees there is no disincentive for Dolan to fight. Otherwise if he wins he pays less than he owes, but even if he loses he just pays what he owes. Under those conditions (nothing to lose) who wouldn't put up a fight? But if he knows it could cost him an extra 12.5M if he loses it may give him pause.

Settling this thing fast is in Dolan's best interest. He needs to sell positivity for this team and the harassment suit is enough negative press. So if we see his side do anything to delay Fridays proceedings I'll take it to mean he's blinked first and will look to settle. Conversely, if Brown's side delays it just means he wants to prolong the distraction and to give Dolan more time to consider a settlement.

This entire thread is a perfect example of the mismanagement of the organization.

Perfect example.

dolan refuses to pay brown just so brown can sue and settle for a bigger payday.......interesting

negative press works both ways. dolan needs to make a stand if its only for the truth..... the fans need to know

Actually I would just like them to play basketball--- get rid of all management and STFU with all of the extracarricular jibber. I really do not care if LB has a 15 mm $ mansion in Greenwich CT, a bladder on the fritz or a lawsuit against Dolan for 200mm--I do not care if Isiah likes to hit on large married women, has illegitimate kids and backstabs like the fat lady in the office--just leave or at the least be quiet and start winning and playing hard and stay away from 90% of the PUTRID deals Isiah has executed and subsuquently overpaid for in the process. Where are my Knicks????????????? Get the posers out!

Just saw the preseason hockey (1/3 of Rasngers team loaded with youngsters destroyed fully loaded Boston one zipp) and new season MSG commercial.
Dancers are dencing, Curry is dunking, and then Rangers are selebrating and solut the fans in the meaddle of the ice.
Welcome to new season..

LB doesn't deserve a dime.

As far as our beloved Knicks are concerned, this team is here and ready to grow. While you're busy lamenting the days of yore, you're missing out on the nice young team that's right in front of your eyes. WAKE UP!

Jamal - 26, QRich - 26, Jared - 24, Curry - 23, Frye - 23, Lee - 23, Nate - 22, Balkman - 22, Collins - 22

You forgot Lumpy (jerome), Grumpy (Fran) and Stumpy (Shoebury).

Im ready to move on once Isiah is!

I dig the rebuild, except Nix you go the blinders on and forgot the leadership!

I could have easily gotten into dumping salaries and living with a young team and lose for 5 seasons compared to starphuching!

Wow, thats great, now lets come back to reality and remember that Marbury and Francis are still on this team and still a major part of it. Just because a team is young doesn't mean they are progressing.

We already know how young the team is. Larry, I really hope he gets all' of his money and the extra 12 mil. In that scenario, if Zeke wins only about 30 to 40 games this next season, you think Dolans going to want him back, after costing him $53 mil.? Hell no! If Dolan ends up paying yet 'another' arm and a leg to someone, you better believe he's going to start being much more careful of what he spends. Meanwhile, our young team as you mentioned is going to have to go through all of this crap before they finally mature as a team and play as one. Not to mention, the verdict is still out on starbury's attitude and let's not forget about Zeke's problem with that woman!

Ever since the Knicks took on the rest of Larry Johnsons 12 year contract and signed Allen Houston to that 100 million, seven year contract, we have had nothing but the worst luck in all of the NBA. There is no end in sight. You can pretend that we have a young team and it's time to start growing, but you can't hide the huge problems this organization still has to deal with.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I'm sure this has been covered but I don't remember the answer. Are the Knicks the youngest team now? If we lose, say, the Roses does that make the Knicks the youngest?

I wonder if any other team got better that we might play?

We got better, but shore has a host of other teams!

In my heart of hearts I do believe we will be better than 23 wins.

So we are well on our way to being the Clippers. We are already the joke of the NBA, now when we only have guys with 4 or less years of exepereince on the team, we'll really arive.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
