Wagner to return to NBA with Warriors
AFP
September 22, 2006

OAKLAND, United States (AFP) - The Golden State Warriors signed the oft-injured guard Dajuan Wagner, who has not played in the National Basketball League since 2004-05.

Selected sixth overall by Cleveland in 2002, Wagner has battled a variety of injuries throughout his career.

He played in just 73 of a possible 164 games in his first two seasons before being limited to 11 contests in 2004-05, when he was diagnosed with colitis, an inflammation of the colon.

Wagner had his colon removed last October, and he lost 30 pounds. In Golden State, he joins a backcourt that includes Baron Davis and Jason Richardson.

Still just 23 years old, Wagner averaged 13.4 points during his rookie campaign. However, those number dipped to just 6.5 points and 4.0 points in his final two seasons before the Cavaliers failed to pick up the fourth-year option on his contract.

I'm happy for him. I have no knowledge of this guy's personality, but I liked his game, and nobody should have their career cut short by something like colitis.

i can see him doing really well, he's fully recovered, and he was lighting up the street leagues in the summer, in one game he had 65 points 14 assists and 10 steals, sure it was streetball, but he can flatout play, his ailment bothered him once he got drafted, if he cando well, it will be one of the better stories in the NBA for sure

Well, we all know that Baron Davis is going to miss 15-20 games w/ a combination of back spasms and knee/ankle issues. That should open up an opportunity for Wagner to showcase his talents. Out of college, I thought he'd be a power-Iverson/Steve Francis-type. Now I wonder if his upside was really more along the lines of a Ben Gordon. (or Foye from this year's draft)

He's still super-young, and having his colon removed won't have taken away any of his athleticism or ability.

It'll be interesting to see if Davis finds his way out of town, and Wagner ends up being used as a starting combo-guard, with Mike Dunleavy playing some point-forward.

Great for Wagner! He deserves it - he's worked like a demon to get back.

Cool i hope he kicks butt. I know when we were drafting H20 really wanted him on the knicks
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg
