I think its time the whole world went amatuer!

It means more them than the pros.

Ryder cup is silly, US vs Europe.

Baseball was flawed as we did not have our best, but you know, we just are not the tops.

USA does not have to kick the worlds ass every year and every sport!

The fact that we are not the best at everything makes me apprciate when we do succeed! And I appreciate when other countries do well.

Its not that we always LOSE, we arrogant americans should see it as other teams being better!

I guess its more about how sport fans and professional athletes in America are looking at US teams.
It’s completely different in other countries. They think it is important to compete and win on international level.
They are sending the best and best athletes are competing hard to make the teams.
I will prefer US to show our supremacy in sport, science, arts that in the war, arms to kill people, and number of billionaires

I thought it was Larry's fault. Guess that arguements gone by the way side.

I dont understand why its never the players fault. Especially in BB where so much of the game cant be scripted and its just players vs. players.

We lost because the players failed. Not because of Karl, Brown or K.

We promote the "Independent American Spirit" in our culture which does not always bode well for TEAM sports.

WE have the best individual basketball players no doubt, but the best players don't play for their home towns anymore, nor the in state college. They pick schools based on what that institution can do for them. THe best high school players rarely play at home anymore.

Playing for community is a thing of the past.

Players want to win championships for themselves, not for the owner, the fans, or the city.

Im not saying this is wrong, but the big money has changed things.

That is what makes the Ncaa champion a nice thing. Many of the schools are still "communities" and they take pride in the acomplishment. Sure there is big money involved.

NFL has so many roster changes each year its getting harder to like teams based on personel. They are getting stripped of its personalities by having so much parity. Year to year its hard to keep sucessful teams together.

When the college kids played in the olympics it was special. Heroes were born and our boys were playing against men!

I gotta to admit, the world championships and olympics are more interesting now that we are not the dominant force anymore. Somtimes it sucks, but winning year in and year out becomes meaningless unless there is somthing worth fighting for.

I thought a team like Greece beating sucked, but it was cool at the same time.

Pfister wins World's Strongest Man competition
Associated Press

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston firefighter Phil Pfister has become the first American in 24 years to win the World's Strongest Man competition.

But it hasn't gone to his head.

A weary Pfister was back at work Tuesday, three days after winning the 10-day competition in Sanya, China.

"I haven't even gotten a good night's sleep yet," Pfister said.

The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Pfister beat 25 athletes from around the world in events such as bus pulls, car pushes, tire turns and stone lifts.

Wisconsin native Bill Kazmaier was the last American to win the title, winning from 1980 to 1982.

Pfister, 35, a firefighter since 1999, was in second place behind defending champion Mariusz Pudzianowski of Poland entering the last day of competition but won the last five events. He overtook Pudzianowski in the final event in which competitors carry stones, ranging from 220 to 352 pounds, and place them on platforms in a timed event.
