yesterday my wife made a big stink about bringing my kids to build a bear--she wants to go now--she promised the kids-- and it's terenchially downpouring. i got up and relunctantly went, although i was kind of begging her to go tomorrow--no dice. so we travel 40 minutes in the pouring rain to the crystal mall in waterford--they go in there maybe a half hor or more im in and out of the store with my eye on the food court. out they come with two boxes each filled with a bears and who knows how much in accessories. so it's you girls happy now yadyada they're happy. we get onto the little elevator thing to go down to the food, and in walks a really fat mom?im guessing it's a mom? with one daughter maybe 12-13??? in a wheel chair with her sister and another kid and I hear them start talking about how they want a bear how this other girls mommy was saving up?? for a bear and this mother starts to get nasty on them--who knows who cares but you could see some anguish on these girls faces. this is just a 20 second or so sequence. we get down i say to the lady excuse me, id like to do your girls a favor and bring them back up to get some of these bears. i had to haggle with her a tad and convince her that it was not a big deal but at the same time I had 0 intention to put this mother in a position where she'd look bad to her kids? and their friend. so they finally agreed i had my wife bring the kids over to get some food, I brought the kids back upstairs and they all went and got their bears with an outfit eac. It was something like 130 bucks or whatever and they're trying to thank me, but i press that its the mother they should thank that it was a surprise from their mother the teenager knew it wasnt but the two yonger ones started jumping on their mom. she said thank you then i said thank you and great luck and went downstairs. i woke up this morning thinking that was the best 130 bucks I spent in a long time im no saint im more of a boisterous know it all bastard that can be annoying, but that made me feel like a champ for a day.

all right briggy! the reluctantly saintly boisterous know it all bastard that can be annoying! we're gonna rename you briggbury!

that's a good story man, you must have had your sincerity really shining through because in this day and age good deed doers look indistinguishable from perverts and child-snatchers!

nice story! but you better start hanging out at steve and barry's, where heros get off cheap!

great story!

Not that great. I did not care for that mother the way she kind of belligerently lashed out at those kids for nothing. I didnt like the look on her face and her embarrassing rhetoric with the young kids and I sure didn't like the look on the teenager's face who was being pushed around in a wheelchair. You never know someone's situation, but darn no need to be snippy or short-fused with kids like that. MY dad didn't live a long time, but one of the main things I remember about him was his caring and generosity towards his friends family and sometimes people he did not know--and that is a good way to define your life.
