The New York Post reported the Knicks are most interested in Stromile Swift with the injury exception, but Memphis would be interested in a larger deal with New York, possibly making the deal Swift and Brevin Knight to the Knicks for Ward, the exception, and a lottery protected first round draft pick. I think that would be a very good deal because Swift is athletic, can play center, and is young. Knight would also be a great pick-up because he is a good upgrade at the point. He's small, but can dish out a ton of assists and is a very good defender. I think he's worth 8 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals a game or better. It would be a nice trade.

Also, with Ward likely out for Sundays game against New Orleans, we will finally get to see some solid minutes from Frank Williams. Hopefully he can at least draw some attention to himself to get some PT.

I have been wondering why Williams has gotten no run. You would think he would at least be able to show up Eisley - who knows. I want to see him play though, so much talk about picking him up and then nothing comes of it?

I agree with the picks, but if Swift continues to imrpove this is too good to pass up, he'd probably be better then a lotto pick 3 to 4 years down the road. If it was protected for 2 years, the Knicks would get 2 high lotto picks in the meantime, and by the 3rd year after the trade they might not even be in the lotto anymore.

That being said, I'd give up a 2nd rounder this year and next year in place of a lotto-protected first rounder for two years, but regardless, Swift is really improving and could be the C for this team for a long time.

But none of them can run or jump like Swift. Watch him play, you'll forget he's 6'9".

Yes he is only 6'9, but he has like a 7'4 wingspan meaning he can get by at center, in the east at least.

I wouldnt do the trade. I think we can do better than that in trade. If it were Jason Williams instead of Brevin yes id pull the trigger.

I think We should be able to get Stomile for less.
2nd Rounder (via Den) + Injury exception + Othella Harrington
for
Stromile Swift

-----
then
-----
1st rounder (top 5 protected) + Lavar Postell
for
Lamar Odom

I like the first trade but the second? Come on Fritz, that's insanity. Knicks could definitely have a pick outside of top 5 and if Odom gets 1 more drug violation he's either out of the league or out for the year. WAY too big a risk.

I see where you are comming from. But you cant doubt the kid is talented beyond what he has shown so far. You must agree his talent is worth way more than a 1st rounder. Sometimes you have to take calculated risks. This is one that can put Layden in the hunt for GM of the year next year.

Or it could cost Layden his job. If they could get a GUARANTEE that Odom could lay off pot a little, then that'd be a calculated risk. If not, no way. He's talented, no doubt about it, but one more violation and he's done for a year.

Williams= 6 years/$43 million left on contract
Brevin Knight= 2 years/$10 million left on contract

which one do you want???? Although i have to admitt... trading for williams seems an awful lot like something layden would do (ie andersron/eisely/spoon/longley/knight)

Jason williams would be worth his contract: 1) if he didnt turn the ball over 5 times per game, 2) if he would shoot more than 30% from 3pt line, 3) if he shot more than 40% from the field, or 4) if he could play D.

OK... he might be one of the worst starting pg's in the league... but alteast hes better than ward and is fun to watch.. right?
