Well, got all four wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. It went routine. It actually isn't that painful, and the medicine helps, but man... not being able to open my mouth wide enough to really drink much water or eat much ice cream sucks. Right now, primary foods: mashed potatoes and ice cream. It's the Jerome James diet. (Except of course my capacity for eating is way way less than his)

Apparently I'm handling it much better than my sister did, or so I'm told. On the plus side, the left side of my face puffed up so much that I look like Kirby:

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Good luck. Surgery is always a pain in the ***. I had my four removed when I was in high school.

Uh oh! I'm going in for surgery on Thursday to get my wisdom teeth pulled and I was told I would recover by Monday next week. Did you premedicate? What kinda painkillers did you take before and/or after? Is the only bad thing the swelling and not being able to open the jaw the whole way?

You might not want to "premedicate" yourself with anything. The Doc will give you local anesthesia before the operation and then something like codeine for pain afterwards. Good luck dude

If you're getting all four pulled, they're going to knock you out completely, unless you ask them to do otherwise. You can't eat or drink anything for at least 6-8 hours before surgery, do not premedicate. I'm on day two right now, and really, the pain is minimal now. Basically, Silver, the first day sucks. The big thing was getting the bleeding to stop. Keeping the gauze in my mouth behind my remaining teeth, until I stopped bleeding was annoying (and a little painful, but not unbearable). A trick they told me was to use tea bags rolled up, between using gauze, and the tanic acid in the tea helps you stop bleeding. My left cheek puffed big, my right, not so much. The puffing is the most annoying thing about it. I have used the pain medication so I had a little more mobility to move my mouth while eating, but past that, I really haven't needed it. The antibiotics you have to take every 6 hours.

Supposidely I can eat more than ice cream and mashed potatoes now, but I'm going to wait a little longer. Also, you have to rinse with salt water 3-4 times a day from day 2 and forward. No smoking, no sucking through a straw.

It really isn't that bad. The main thing for me is the puffy cheeks look very sexy (kidding) and vicodin makes me very sleepy, so I'll get hit with a tired wave and sleep for hours... Follow the instructions, and you'll be fine. Every guy I talked to said it wasn't that bad. Most women I talked to were crying like babies (I witnessed this when my ex got hers pulled). You're a man, you'll be fine.
