I think right now you have to consider four teams fairly equal. Orlando, Toronto, Miwaukee, and Philadelphia. Charlotte may be contenders as well, but it is less likely. I consider new york up in the same class as these other four teams and i think we have as good a chance as them. It will be an interesting year to say the least.

On paper, Toronto and Orlando look like the best teams in the east to me. I don't know what to think about Philly, they just redid their front line, how this will affect them we will soon find out. I can't see the Hornets or the Bucks doing anything like they did last year. Just because the Heat burned out first round last year doesn't mean you can forget about them either, same for the Knicks. It'll be interesting to see how everything works out.

all those team previously mentioned and also the Atlanta Hakws you gotta keep an eye on. this starting 5 is tight:
1. Jason Terry
2. Dermarr Johnson
3. Kukoc
4. Sharif abdur Rahim
5. Theo Ratliff

I can agree with you there, but they will have a lot of work to do. Indy won't be great, but they will be good enough to grab one of the last playoff spots. I can't say the same for Atlanta...yet.

Atlanta has done a great job rebuilding but I feel they are still too young to make a huge impact.

Toronto certainly helped themselves by getting the Dream and they had a good second-half of the season so I feel they may take out the #1 spot.

Orlando looks great on paper but it'll be interesting to see how Ewing and Grant go in the East. There's also a big question mark on Grant Hill, if he comes back 100% healthy than they'll be a hard team to compete with.

Milwaukee I feel needs to upgrade its frontcourt (Mason?) in order to make any improvement from last year.

I don't understand why Phila made those moves in the off-season because they now don't have a decent power-forward on their team. Why fix it if ain't broken???

Finally, we shouldn't underestimate the Heat. They've always been strong in the regular-season and the return of Mourning will help a lot. They lost Bug but Gill is a good player when healthy, they still need a point guard and the small-forward position is too thin if Maosn leaves.

You forgot Emanual Davis and if they go with Terry at the 2 guard, he will be the one starting at point. He's got good size at 6-5 and few point guards have that advantage.

I now live in atlanta and i watch the Hawks a lot, they are young but not that young, Kucok and Ratliff are veterans and rahim although young has experience. the problem is Atlanta is not proven yet at Pg since Terry is more comfortable at the 2 spot. atlanta is also thin on the bench which will kill them this year...

Kukoc is seeing the last of his best days, but hopefully Johnson will come around. They also have Glover and a few others who can see good minutes, an of course SAR could always move to the 3 while Mohammed gets into the line-up as the big forward. Still, they will need time, but i expect them to be a good team.
