Looks like they're trying to get rid of teams like denver and the nets getting undeserved 3 seeds, a good move IMO.

Us Knick fans won't have to worry about the playoffs for atleast a year or two.

... or nine.

On the other hand, we are rid of Larry Brown, and have the future Shaq, TD, mini-MJ and Ron Artest, so who knows... I say 87 regular season wins might be possible.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Good move by the NBA here. Couldn't agree more. Now they have to get rid of the 2-3-2 format for the Finals and make it 2-2-1-1-1 like the rest of the series, to make it consistent.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

They were kind of forced into this move after all the criticism they got. Good news is this one makes sense. I agree with Ike about the consistency. 2-2-1-1-1 is much more exciting than 2-3-2.

This is the way its suppose to be. They finally got it right. I always felt a better record should deserve a higher seeding.

Yeah, plus allowing teams to have 15 players in the playoffs is a good move too. I always wondered why the NBA had a rule requiring teams to leave players off the playoff roster, when some of those players had been on the team all year. It made no sense.

Stupid move. Winning a divison is suppose to be the biggest prize of the Season.

Just 87? Hater.

The 2-3-2 format was put into place to cut down on the cross country travel. Staying in a city 2-3 days has to be better for the players than playing 1 game and heading for the airport

Winning a championship is the biggest prize. Winning the Division is just winning a division. Besides there are teams that coast when they take a lead in the division and that isn't always good. You want to give a team a reason to play hard in every game and I think playing for a better record is a way to accomplish this.

you know what else they need to work on? teams tanking for better picks. i know it'll never happen and people will say it's unfair, but I think they should have every team that doesn't make the playoffs have an equal chance at the lottery, like the year the knicks drafted ewing. No team would miss the playoffs on purpose if they had a chance, and teams wouldn't get penalized for playing hard at the end of the season.

Of the the post season. Nobody raises a banner for being the third seed in the playoffs in any sport.........

THere is no reason to have divison if they are going to seed by record. They should just make two confernces if a divison winner is going to be seeded lower then a non winner.

I liked the two conference set up easier, even though this makes it easier for the knicks to make the playoffs (for now)
