Brian cashman is the GM of the century.

Still abreau seems to have lost his power, or did he pull a Vince Carter just to get traded?

Yanks lose a that first rounder they had and another young guy. Nothing to cry about really.

This is a message to Sheffield. Sheff might pack it in for the rest of the year.

Yanks are the evil empire.

It pisses me off b/c Bernie was having a nice year and Melky has been playing out of his mind. Why are we even going after Abreu? I thought it was obviously pitching that was the concern. I guess it's not. I guess RJ is going to magically going to turn 27 tommorrow.

i think he'll pick it up. he's only 32. Hell of a hitter, perfect Yankee! Can't wait til Matsui gets back and our outfield is mats, damon, abreu, melky for insurance & bernie at DH

you forgot about Shef. Anyway, I'm sure he'll fit right in, but the the number one need is pitching. Johnson is shell of himself, Ponson was a waste, and the bridge in the bullpen to Mariano has fallen down like in London.

"Melky for insurance"

He's our best outfielder right now, and has been playing great. He deserves to be the full time starter from this point on. Screw Sheffield. Make Matsui the DH...

Poor Bernie... Was playing so well this year too.

I actually think the bullpen is a huge strengh of this team right now. Between Proctor and Farnsworth ,who are both finally pitching like they are capable of, and the matchup leftys of Villone and Myers, I think the bullpen is pretty solid. I REALLY wish Pavano would quit hurting himself and get his ass back into Pinstripes because this team REALLY needs him now. There should be absolutely no worries about the offense, not that there were anyway.

no doubt about it... starting pitching is the #1 concern but unfortunately we don't have what it takes to get any(other than Hughes who's untouchable) and other than zito and maybe willis there are no good pitchers out there. We could've ignored the deadline and not done anything but Abreu is a good guy to add because he's the quintessential yankee. I always wanted like him. He's one of those natural hitter like Manny. Something the yankees under Steinbrenner's control haven't targeted in a long time.

You guys forgot to mention that we also got Cory Lidle, a solid back of the rotation starter.

We gave up CJ Henry (1st round SS)that is supposed to have tremendous upside but was struggling in the low minors this year, and 3 other minor leaguers. In return we got a great OF and a pretty good pitcher that should solidify our Starting Rotation. Great deal.

This is a sick move... we need to find a way to get some stud pitchers and then we'll be in good shape.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Why screw Shef? Honestly, I'd rather see him at the plate (when healthy of course) with the game on the line than A-Rod. And No, I'm not one of the idiot fans that boo ARod...

if Lidle pitches like he pitched in Oakland than its solid but he stunk it up in toronto. it comes down to Randy will he breakdown? he doesn't have to be the randy of old but he's gotta give you solid 2-3runs into the 7th inning starts. like he was doing until yesterday's disaster. Moose & Wang have been great so with Lidle or Pavano we have what it takes. Every team could use starting pitching. Detroit is dangerous because they can pitch and Leyland is a great manager. We'll beat Boston

true Matsui will problably DH and Melky will start in LF but what about next year? they might use melky in a trade for a pitcher. I think its great that we have him because guys are always getting hurt come playoff time...and instead of being forced to play someone like bubba fulltime we actually have someone worthy of contributing. Sheff is gone

Yanks need pitching but technically they have too much pitching.....its just all those mofos are hurt, lol.

Abreu (spelled it wrong in the title) is definately a Yankee. Let's see if the Yankee magic can anoint him quickly and he can begin knocking in runs like he did in the past.

With the bats at least guys will be fresh for October.

Sheff is a deadly hitter buy the guy seems to be more for self. Maybe abreu will help the clubhouse especially when he is hitting and getting his RBI's.

they do a great job with the resources they have because they can afford mistakes and not worry about a cap, but ultimately they are this good because the owner is passionate about his team whereas other owners are not even sports fans and own cable tv companies

When you have all the money in the world and no salary cap constraints, it's pretty hard not to have an outstanding team. This was basically a no-brainer and a good trade.

Say what you want about dolan. The dude is shelling out tons of money on the knicks and the rangers. If I didn't really care about either sport of team I would run this organization like the clippers before Sam I am came along.

Dolan has no choice he has to act like he cares or him and his company would be crucified in a city as big as NY if he tried to pull a Donald Sterling
