I forgot who it was, I think it was guns and someone else said they lived right near Fairfield. Who was it and what town again? I'm looking at Caldwell right now. We should definitely go out and have a drink one night after I'm all settled in. I'm sure guns will drink me under the table (I'm not much of a drinker), but it would be cool.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Definitely. Just let me know and we'll set up a date. I'm having my wisdom teeth yanked on the 11th, so I'll probably be out of commision for a few days, but we can still hang out, even if I can't drink (because of the drugs). On the 10th, my current coworkers want to take me out, also... but let me know what day interests you, and we'll work something out.

Sorry guys. Was about to respond, and then the site went down. UK was down... damn the United Kingdom! j/k

You guys all live in or around Caldwell? Excellent! I'm totally up for that. I start August 28th, so I'll be moving in before then. I'm not sure when yet, since I'm still in the process of looking, but I may take one of the ones I saw in Caldwell today. I will definitely keep you posted.

All the realists ("haters") are in NJ, it seems. Now that's just odd.

Solace, DO NOT LIVE IN CALDWELL! Take my word, it will add 15 minutes to your morning commute. Your rent or real estate tax will be higher just because you are 5 minutes into Essex County and you will have to deal with the BS cops in that town. If you can deal with that, Caldwell is a nice chill town. Otherwise, live in Parsippany or something. Welcome to Jersey btw. Imma love drinking with you.

Hmmm, I drove past my new company from the apartment I was looking at today, and it was only 5 minutes or so to drive... 15 extra minutes to my commute? The traffic can't be that bad, can it?

What are some of the nice areas around there? I was looking at the Caldwells and Verona.

I look forward to hanging out, as well.

Sounds like you are right off Rt 46. It might not be so bad if you are taking Bloomfield Ave all the way down. The ave doesn't have too many traffic lights and there are 2 lanes. The problem is getting out of that town in any other direction and I forgot you are going to Fairfield. Just remember though, that town has absolutely NOTHING to do in it. It has no major highways near it and the cops in that town are ridiculous! They have nothing to do other than bother people about seatbelts and tail lights.

My major problem is with the cops not doing their job. They gave me hell over the years about the smallest things like 10 mph over the speed limit or improper use of high beams etc. But when a bank got robbed in that town twice in the same week, the cops didnt do much other than hold thier dick in their hands. You should be fine though. They arent as tough out there anymore. I now live in Edison which is very close to New Brunswick but I'm in Caldwell all the time.

Verona is pretty cool but its further up. They have a couple of decent bars in that town. Montclair is really up and coming. Lot of things to do in that town but its a little bit further in the other direction. How come you arent looking at East Hanover, Whipanny or Parsipanny? They are on the opposite direction on Rt 46. btw: I'm heading out to New Brunswick right now. Good night.

I see. I just went with what I was told by the headhunter and the tips the people at the company gave. I was looking mostly for upscale areas that are very close to the job, and those are what was mentioned to me. A 5 minute ride to work is very cool, there's low risk of floods in that area, and there's a good amount of shopping, parks, etc.... Rent is slightly higher, but the increase isn't too dramatic. I found one I like for, what I think, is a reasonable price in that area, so I'm probably going to take it. As for the other towns, I am very unfamiliar with the area, so I can only go off the info I have. Parsippany was mentioned as a second choice if I couldn't find anything in the areas I've been looking at. Whipanny I've never heard of, and East Hanover wasn't mentioned.

Dude move to Caldwell. I don't know what Silver is talking about adding 15 minutes to your commute, I never have a problem getting out in the morning. Theres plenty of condos/apartments/houses to rent too!

Have you ever had to get on Passaic Ave or Roseland ave in the mornings? They go to 280 which goes to pkwy, Turnpike and Livingston and Rt. 10 etc. Think about it man, they are both 1 lane streets with like 3 traffic lights. Everytime I had to go to work or school around 7:30 to 8:30, I was always stuck in bumper to bumper from Caldwell to Eagle Rock Ave. But you are right, Caldwell isnt as bad as I make it sound. I just dislike the stupid toy cops in that town.

Caldwell is NOT upscale! Caldwell and Verona are the cheapest towns in the area. We got Roseland, North Caldwell, Livingston and your work town all much more wealthier than caldwell.

north caldwell is extremely upscale. Thats where most of the NJ Devils live and where the Soprano house is. It is cheaper to live right on or off bloomfield Ave but Caldwell is an upscale town..especially to someone like me who lived next to Newark for 10yrs lol

Silver, whats with the Caldwell hating man! Caldwell isn't as upscale as North Caldwell, Livingston or Roseland but believe me, theres very few towns that are. There isn't one area of West Caldwell or Caldwell that are run down, everywhere is basically the same, most houses in Caldwell/West Caldwell sell for about 400-450 on the market so it's not as bad as you make it sound. I would say that Caldwell is above average in terms of upscaleness... if that makes any sense at all lol.

Believe what you want to bro but Caldwell is not considered an upscale town. It is considered extremely racist though! Any town in New Jersey with that many apartments is not considered upscale. Not city, town. I was looking for a list of and values New Jersey but couldnt find one. If you look at the list of best school districts, you will see Caldwell isnt even top 10. Out of all the towns that surround Caldwell, other than Verona, Caldwell has the lowest land values. And btw, we were looking at houses in Caldwell and only the newer ones on Passaic are in excess of 450,000.

Look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey#Prominent_cities_and_towns and scroll down through Town with less than 60,000 people and prominent municipalities. I understand you grew up there and thats your town and everything but dont overrate it.

the value of houses in Caldwell really went up. When I moved here 8yrs ago you used to be able to find houses in the 200K's now even my 1940 house is worth 360,000...its not livingston but its still expensive. The area around livingston is the weathiest in the country isn't it..Wealthier than Beverley Hills I believe.

Anyhow who cares...Solace should go with whatever is most convenient. he doesn't have to worry about getting on RT 280 to go to work or anything. If he did then yea that passaic ave traffic can get ridiculous during rush hour. and he's only minutes away from a nice night out in morristown, hoboken or nyc
