This may be the prelude for these moves
1. Buy out Mo Taylor
With the addition of Jared J, it would make Mo "THE BLACK HOLE" Taylor a lock to be on team next year after all Jared J and play some four. After all if IT is installing a free flowing offense there is no way Taylor would change his game.
2. Trade Jalen Rose
An expiring contract with some value, because Rose could actually contribute to a team in the league(I don't feel the same about Taylor). Q-Rich I'm not sure what is going to happen. All I know is if this signing works out for us and we have a starting front court of Curry, Fyre and Jeffries then it makes the Franchisbury backcourt a little more feasible. But hey you never know.

It definitely balances our roster a little more. I hope we either keep QRich or get another shooter (ie eddie jones). It's important to have someone who can stretch the defense with francis and marbury in the backcourt.

Mo T - Buy him out or simply keep him as insurance until his contract expires.

J Rose - See Mo T (let the contract expire).

If we want a free flowing offense, it is IMPERATIVE that we have shooters than can at least spot up. Heck, it's crucial to have shooters in any kind of offense. Who's it gonna be though? Jamal? Jalen? Q? I'd hope that it's Q b/c he's still young and can improve his shooting to go with his good defense, but his back problems are clear as daylight. Jalen will never be a good defender. Isiah traded him away for a reason, when they were in Indiana.

Just bench MoT and Rose. They come off the books in a year anyway. Why take back more contracts and roster spots? Trade QRich for Jeffries if the Wiz match and trade Francis for Eddie Jones at the deadline. I'd love to see this:

Curry - Frye - JJ
Frye - Lee
Jeffries - Balkman
Jones - Craw - Nate
Marbury - Craw - Nate

M. Rose, MoT, J.Rose can sit and see spot minutes at best. If we don't trade Q.Rich now just plug him in to the 3 spot until we can dump him later.

Jared Jeffries reportedly does not want to play for the Wizards anymore, that could be evident by his refusal to take their initial 6 yr 33 million dollar offer. Maybe we can force a sign and trade here w/ Quentin Richardson and a 2nd rd pick.

Assuming thats the scenario... I'd push for a Kenyon Martin deal. Maybe a 3 way deal w/ Cleveland for a resigned Drew Gooden? Here's a mock trade:

Denver gets: Steve Francis (PG) and Drew Gooden (PF)
Cleveland gets: Andre Miller (PG) and Ime Udoka (sf)
Our Knicks get: Kenyon Martin (PF) and Aleksander Pavlovic or Luke Jackson (sg via Den)

Curry/Frye/James
Martin/Lee/M.Rose/M.Taylor**
Jeffries/Balkman/J.Rose**
Crawford/Robinson/Pavlovic
Marbury/Collins

Let Maurice Taylor and Jalen Rose's contract come off the books at season's end; or trade their expiring salaries for draft picks during the season!!! (Do not take back another contract, unless it's for a KEY addition to our playoff run!)

This post makes alot of sense. I think those trades are pretty fair too, I would definately do this, this trade works for all teams and I REALLY like the defensive attitude that the Knicks would have by adding Jeffries and Martin. Luke Jackson is still a pretty good prospect too, if I'm not mistaken he's had injury problems since he's entered the NBA, but when he's on the court, he can be productive.

There also are several clauses in the contract that may prohibit the Wizards from matching the offer. It is believed that Jeffries' deal calls for him to receive 80% of his annual salary before the season. Also, it is likely that Jeffries' contract includes a trade kicker or bonus in the event that he is dealt within five years.

Yeah, I read that this morning... If the majority of his money is paid out in the 1st year, Grunfeld might have a real issue w/ matching the contract. Pretty crafty move by Zeke; this deal forces the Wizards brass to think long and hard.. because if they do match, they likely will be over the luxury tax. Is that the price that you'd be willing to pay for a "multi-position" player- in effect double the cost??? Apparently NYK's management is ready to do so (Advantage us: We need a starting caliber SF, and we are already over the cap), but for Washington, remains to be seen!

Moreover, as stated earlier Jeffries doesn't want to return to the Wizards, Do you risk causing controversy on an up and coming team like Washington... It could turn out to be an ugly situation. Thats why, I expect to see a sign and trade.. Don't think the Wizards will let him just walk for nothing.. BUT, I surely think they recognize the potential for a disgruntled player on the roster. If they do match, it could be a major distraction for the team!!!!

All this for Jared Jeffries??? A good long team defender with no offensive skills, which would be nice for a starting SF. He's basically a bigger Ariza. But let's pay him max money too.

Whats the big deal about paying him 80% of his salary before the season? Like $4M is going to break the Wiz?

And that trade kicker is just going to make it more difficult for us to trade him later on if the Wiz don't match. It's a double edged sword that you know will hurt us more than it'll hurt anybody else. Real shrewd.

You keep MO T and see what he brings in return he has a lot of value in his ending contract. He may bring back a number one pick in return. That is why you keep him rather than buy him out and the worst senario is that he rides the bench the rest of the season and if he gives attitude you send him home ala Penny until a deal comes along or the season ends and he can walk.

All this for Jared Jeffries???
What do you mean by "all this"? This is really the going rate for a good role player. What teams have gotten unarguably better players for the MLE this year? There are probably some from previous years, but my guess is it's a small minority.

I would just dump Jalen and Mo Taylor right now. Their expiring contracts arent assets, they are a liability. Especially with this management

I think some people are just suckers for name value and stats. Jeffries doesn't have either one of those attached to him but he's a damn good basketball player when he's out on the court and does alot of things that helps GOOD teams win basketball games.
