If we get jeffries what is our next move going to be? It's been established that we would have a large backcourt glut looking sort of like this.

PG Marbury/Robinson/Collins
SG Francis/Crawford/J Rose
SF Jeffries/Richardson/J Rose/Balkman

Another move clearly has to be made or there will be some unhappy players. My idea is, once Swift becomes eligible for trade we should try to make a deal with memphis. Something like crawford, robinson, and taylor for jones and swift. Memphis does this deal because they need a point guard/combo guard and crawford could fit in nicely. Plus swift does not want to be there. They are left with crawford at the PG, miller at the SG, and Gay at the SF. Taylor also gives them depth up front to go with gasol. They would have a very nice team.

As for us, jones gives us a nice veteran leader who can play d and knock down open 3s. Plus his contract expires at the end of the year. Swift gives us an athletic big and good defender and shotblocker who can come off the bench. We are left with a rotation of marbury, francis, jeffries or richardson, frye, and curry with jeffries or richardson, jones, lee, and swift coming off the bench. That gives us a very strong 9-man rotation. Our final roster looks like this.

C Curry/Swift/James
PF Frye/Lee/Rose
SF Jeffries/Richardson/Balkman
SG Francis/Jones
PG Marbury/Collins

I say cut jalen rose because he's really not needed. Maybe sign another wing player to leave on the inactive list along with collins. We would be in very good shape.

No way do I include Craw and Robinson in that trade. I'd rather offer Francis for Jones straight-up.

You got the right idea. After jefferies situation is secure, there has to be a clean up trade.

Dude, if isiah traded craw, Nate and Taylor for swift and Eddie Jones, that would be a terrible move. Memphis would jump on that deal in a heartbeat. Swift is not a very smart player buy he desperately needs to be let lose in an open court offense. I'm down with getting swift. Craw and Nate are still young and talented so I wouldn't salary dump them just yet. Isiah has already refered to the shooting guard glut since he's been crowned coach. If anything he needs to focus on trying to find a home for q-rich. He may already be thinking of moving him cuz of Jared. If the knicks have Jared what would be the point of q-rich.

I dunno. There will definately be a "next move". I believe that isiah will round things out before training camp so he can focus on implementing his offense.

We forgetting DLee.

And yes I agree we need to trade some backcourt assets.

I like Eddie for a year. But Eddie and J Rose is almost redundant. Eddie is a better defender, but Jailin better ball handler.

Sto needs to be traded to Nets.

Memphis is retooling and looking beyond this year. Our long term outlook is the trade deadline each year.

Im wondering really if our move with Jeffries is a smokescreen to force a sign and trade with the Wiz. The might prefer Qrich than nothing or pay jeffries. Might a larger deal with Francis be good for them? Bring back MD native Stevie to pair with Arenas?

I don't think trading Qrich is that good of an idea because then we would have no spot up shooters.

A couple of points here...

If Jeffries comes in and preforms, Q will not see the floor unless he starts hitting his jumper again. Balkman is going to get some minutes, I'm convinced of that after the summer league.

Also, remember that Jeffries is 6'11" - I would bet he will be playing the 4 at times for an up-tempo Knicks team. I could see line-ups of;

Starting
C - Curry
PF - Frye
SF - Jeffries
SG - Crawford
PG - Marbs

Secondary lineup
C - Frye
PF - Jeffries
SF - Balkman
G - Crawford
G - Nate
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

q-rich couldn't hit a shot to save his life last year. Q is supposed to be more like bonzi than pat garrity, lol. If we need a spot up shooter anybody other that Q qualifies.

I've seen better shooting in old episodes of g.I. Joe! If you remember that show then you get the joke, lol.

Q rich is a shooter who can'r shoot. Career 39% shooter. Jamal and Nate are more reliable especially when you consider they can shoot off the dribble.

I think Jeffries is more skilled offensively than he has shown thus far. He carried that Hoosier team to the finals and beat Duke in the sweet-sixteen. The few times I saw him this year, offensively, he seems to lacking confidence. He was very hesitant to shoot at times (kind of hard to develop any type of rhythm when playing along side gunners like Arenas and Jamison.

He actually stepped up his offensive stats during second half of the season and playoffs. I'll double check the stats.

Jeffries playoff stats: 8pts 6rbs 1blk and did a pretty good job of making Lebron work and make tough shots.

Jeffries only averaged 7 shots per game in the playoffs compared to:

Arenas 23 shots per
Butler 17 shots per
Jamison 17 shots per
Daniels 10 shots per

Im kind of luke warm on this trade. I love his versatility and the intagaibles that he brings, and still feel there might be some uptapped offensive potential there, but essentially we did draft Balkman to do most of what Jeffries is gonna be asked to do.

is it ok to have more than one defender?

I didn't forget, I just can't see anyone else playing major minutes. Francis was horrible last year and I don't see that changing much.

i wouldn't be surprised to see either a Q Rich / Malik for KMart or Francis for KMart trade if Jefferies joins the fold... either that, or Jalen Rose will be aggressively shopped to teams looking to dump a contract (maybe for KMart if DEN throws in some draft picks)... just my best guess.

I'm just guessing. I think Isiah will look to deal QRich and Malik early and then follow that up with a JRose trade at the deadline. The problem is by keeping Jalen, someone out of Jalen and Craw and Francis(all guys that deserve time) is going to be benched. Isiah will need to really work on isolating that player if they become a problem

On a positive note it could foster some competition and force these guys to earn time by raising their effort. Hopefully they will do that instead of going the route of blaming inconsistent playing time for failures and then lowering their effort. Isiah will have to make sure that raising the level is the new standard and that last year's excuses no longer exist. You are not allowed to quit regardless of your playing time because someone will not play. We can't allow them to get away with the excuse making like we did last year. Hopefully fans and management are realizing how dangerous it is to make excuses for a team that decides to quit.

Well I have a better move, well three moves. IR Collins, IR Rose and play blakman in garbage time. DOes that work???? JRose, Q and Francis will likely be gone next season.......... Blakman and collins can wait.
