Except for a few extreme individuals, most here would agree that Marbury is a very good player when he's motivated. And I think he'll be more motivated than ever with his idol's job on the line and his idol coaching the team. I could see him moving the ball much better, attacking the rim like a top 5 attacker in the league, and playing at least average defense. I think this subject gets much less attention than excitement people have over last year's rookies. The team's still probably never going to have much playoff success under Cablevision ownership but I could see them fighting for the 8th seed with a huge win improvement from last year.

Ooops, wrong thread.

HAHAHA!

Ok, back on topic...

we've seen Marbury's "motivated" act before... it lasted about half a season before he reverted back to his old Starbury persona... look up the #'s he put up his first half season in NY & then look at how his assist totals get steadily lower... last year, his point totals dropped right along w/his minutes per game, a direct result of his lack of effort on the defensive end & playing a selfish brand of basketball... excuse me if i don't get overly excited over the prospects of what a "motivated" Marbury will bring to this team next season... i've come to know it's only a temporary condition... you can't change a leopard's spots... he's Starbury through & through, & not Isiah, Dolan or anyone else is going to change that.

Where is it written that Isiah is Marbury's idol? Because Marbury said it?

I truly believe that Marbury's idol is Marbury.

Tune in and we can see what happens ourselves.

MeBury was pumped to get Larry. Pumped about being an olympian, pumped to be a knick, pumped to be a net, pumped to be a sun, pumped to be a wolve!

The dude is all words.

We'll just turn on the game and see what happens!

okay; his second biggest idol!

I wasn't ready to throw a party over it but I think it's at least as relevant to the team's success as the progress of Frye or Lee or Nate

Yeah i've had enough of the "when this happens Marbury is going to take off" nonsense. Enough words. Enough excuses. Enough with the perfect conditions to perform. Real men perform no matter how good or bad the conditions are. Winners perform whether they liek where they are or not.

Marbury has the ability to be whoever he thinks he is. It's time. No more blaming coach's, systems and teammates. Take full responsibility. Dive through hoops. Play D. Give 100% and shut your mouth. If he does that, he will be loved here. If we have the same record the last few years and Marbs was a good soldier he would have more love than he gets in NY. But he refuses. There is always an excuse. Always a system to blame. Always a teammate not performing. Just do your job and be quiet.

Stephon does not have to lead us anywhere to get credit from me. but for once in his career I'd like to see him uplift a team for more than 6 games, or more than a month. When other's are down I'd love to see him be a positive influence. Just once I'd like to see this. Time for talk and excuses left with LB. It's time to come to play.

Marbs will be fine. I'll take the old 20 and 8 Marbs who will sometimes give you 25 or 30. He averaged 8 assists a game, to average 8 assists you have to take into account the missed shots off the assist attempts. If he gives you the ball 20 times and you miss 10 shots, he only gets 10 assists!! He's not Steve Nash or Jason Kidd, they play in systems that help their numbers and if this new offense works for us, it'll be all good!!

Marbury averages 8 assists because the ball is always in his hands. Larry tried to get him to move the ball his assists went down. should be great watching him & Francis in the backcourt together!

When fans defend Marbury it's all about his talent. We all know he's capable of scoring 20 and putting up 8 assists. We know this. Noone needs evidence of what he is capable of. What we need is for him to be a positive force on this team. Not to be the guy that when things go wrong he is one of the one's complaining. We need him to step up and help his teammates. If he can't do this, as an organization we need to take the reins completely away from him.

This talk about what he is capable of doing and will do now that LB is gone, is just talk. It's time for marbury "the man" to step up and sstop making excuses. I don't care if he leads us to 24 wins this year, what I want is for him to lead us or let's get rid of him.

OHHH GEEZ! I just LOVE the Steph haters out there, talkin like a bunch of school girls. You really don't have a FREAKIN CLUE as to what you're talking about. No matter what you all think its really gonna be about the other players on the floor. Steph will hold down his position and he'll feed players the ball but will they convert those opportunities? Let me ask you what kind of teams has he had here in NY? Any of them considered 2nd or 3rd round locks at the start of the year? HELL NO! Every team has been basically 1st rd fodder. So we want to make this about Steph when MOST of the teams he's been on have STUNK!!!! Not him, but the teams around him haven't been very good. Aside from a VERY Young KG, VERY young Amare and VERY young KMart, he hasn't really had much help in his career. He played with these guys as Sophmore's and Rookies. Interesting that he got to the playoffs with both KG/Gugliotta and Amare/Marion as his co stars. Even with those guys those teams weren't considered bigtime teams. We haven't had ANYONE CLOSE to those players, except for H2O and he was hurt.

NOW we finally are starting to put some really good talent around him and with a coach that actually WANTS the team to succeed this will be a MUCH better year for Steph and the Knicks. I can't WAIT for the season to start, so I can stomp all over you haters with my Starbury sneakers on ...AH HA, HA, HA, HAAAAAAAH!
