While I would strongly prefer to resign Q.Woods and sit S.Francis (unless he wants to play off the bench) - I doubt IT will do this so... What about Francis and Udoka (to rid of contract) for Miles and Skinner. I saw it posted before and was initially turned off. Skinner is a good back-up 4/5 with a reasonably short contract, and Miles... is a headcase - but since IT loves him - maybe he can get through to him as he is talented. It's risky, but I would rather IT sink or swim - not tread water and improve by ten wins. Then, he will stay longer and it will take us longer to reform this team. If I'm wrong about IT, and he did assemble this "great team" - then I'll be happy to eat my words and enjoy a successful season rooting for the knicks. It seems like IT got really conservative in his approach now that he's the head coach. I find that ironic, considering how excessive he was before he became coach. Anyway, we have to do something with Francis - otherwise he will sit and sulk and continue polluting the atmostphere of this team. This team is flawed and acquiring Miles would either help us improve and make the playoffs or "sink us to the bottom of the atlantic (ocean)." I want to get to one of those two places sooner than later. So the question is... would you trade Francis for Miles?

I suggested this in a thread awhile ago......to answer your question, Miles is much better fit for this team than Francis..

MOST teams have flaws, so to me that's not the big issue. The issue is whether Isiah can make it work with Francis and Steph starting in the backcourt? I believe Isiah has the right idea about how to use these players and we won't be seeing any sulking this year. We'll be successful enough for players to be much happier than they ever were last year. Playing at a quicker tempo will allow us to have more possessions and this will also serve to make the players happy, since we have so many guys who will want to get touches, we have to up the number of possessions each game in order to make that happen. This means that we'll be seeing a lot more early substitutions to help keep up that pace.

Francis for Miles and Skinner is a deal thats been suggested and would improve our team. He fills our need at SF and gives us a balanced roster. A starting line-up of Marbury, Richardson, Miles, Frye, and Curry with Crawford as the 6th man makes us potentially very dangerous.

IF Miles is healthy, and I hear that's a big if.

Mo T for Skinner & Dixon then... we relieve them of their contracts which expire after next season... i have zero interest in taking Miles off their hands unless they want to throw us their unprotected 1st rounder in 2007.

I'd rather just let Mo T walk at the end of the year....

i don't mind a deal like that since it really doesn't hurt our cap situation... i'd rather see Skinner getting playing time than Big Turd James, & Dixon can simply be waived after the deal is made... maybe get a 2nd round pick out of the Blazers too while we're at it... not that this is a deal i would actively pursue, but definitely would do this before any deal for Miles, that's for sure.
